A sharp escalation in tit-for-tat retributions between China and the United States marks a deeply uncertain moment in relations between the two countries, already under strain from a longstanding trade dispute and a fierce debate over international use of Chinese technology.
Both countries have scrambled over the last week to shape the international narrative surrounding both the inception and response to the COVID-19 virus.
Trump began resolutely referring to the disease as the Chinese virus, brushing aside concerns about whether the phrase is racist and will incite unnecessary anger inside China. Trump, Secretary of Defense Mark Esper and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have all blamed China for the pandemic, and have called for more details on the origins of the virus.
If the Chinese government had been more transparent early on, were talking late fall, December at least all the nations of the world would have been able to get our arms around this and contain it in China where it began and prevent its propagation around the world, Esper said Friday morning on Fox & Friends. The two countries relationship already under enormous pressure in recent years is on the verge of imploding as both sides seek to assign blame for the virus origin and exchange tit-for-tat recriminations on other fronts, including expelling journalists.
As of 2019, the United States has the worlds largest economy and China has the second-largest although China has a larger GDP when measured by PPP. China is the second-largest foreign creditor of the United States, after Japan. The two countries remain in dispute over territorial issues in the South China Sea.
And it seems that China wants to take this to another level.
Chinas leaders have been told to prepare for a war with America amid the fallout from the coronavirus crisis, according to a Ministry of State Security report obtained by Reuters.
Chinese intelligence presented the report to top Communist Party officials last month, warning them about the fallout from Chinas handling of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Leaders were warned the backlash could lead to an armed confrontation with the United States.
The report was presented early last month by the Ministry of State Security to top Beijing leaders including President Xi Jinping.
The report, presented early last month by the Ministry of State Security to top Beijing leaders including President Xi Jinping, concluded that global anti-China sentiment is at its highest since the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown, the sources said, Reuters reported.
As a result, Beijing faces a wave of anti-China sentiment led by the United States in the aftermath of the pandemic and needs to be prepared in a worst-case scenario for armed confrontation between the two global powers, according to people familiar with the reports content, who declined to be identified given the sensitivity of the matter.
Reuters couldnt determine to what extent the stark assessment described in the paper reflects positions held by Chinas state leaders, and to what extent, if at all, it would influence policy. But the presentation of the report shows how seriously Beijing takes the threat of a building backlash that could threaten what China sees as its strategic investments overseas and its view of its security standing.

Pompeo blasts ‘wildly soft’ Obama-Biden coddling of Beijing: ‘Allowed China to walk all over us’
Secy of State says Biden ignores US efforts to get health experts into China to investigate coronavirus
When it comes to China policy and the U.S. presidential election, a battle is brewing about toughness. More precisely, who is tougher when it comes to dealing with the Chinese Communist Party? Trump or Biden?
For Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, the answer is obvious, and it lies in plain view in the Obama-Biden administrations record of dealing with China. Relative to this administration, they were wildly soft, the secretary of state bluntly told Just the News Thursday.
A new campaign ad by the presumptive Democrat nominee for president lambastes the president for not calling out China earlier and for failing to send American health experts to China to investigate the coronavirus. Biden is ignoring the facts, says Pompeo. This president and this administration worked diligently to work to get Americans on the ground there in China, the secretary of state said in a one-on-one interview. We were rebuffed. The Chinese government wouldn’t let it happen.
The China issue is a sensitive one for the Biden campaign. Trump and his surrogates have been hammering the former vice president as being soft on China, with Trump recently tweeting, China wants Sleepy Joe sooo badly ... Joe is an easy mark, their DREAM CANDIDATE!
Past campaign ads have also highlighted how Bidens son Hunter had lucrative business relationships with China. Pompeo opted to zero in on Bidens last time in federal office.
The previous administration allowed China to walk all over us, Pompeo says. This president has taken a fundamentally 180-degrees different approach with respect to how we respond to the challenges that China presents to American Security.”
Specifically, Pompeo points out how the Obama-Biden administration showered the Chinese government with trade benefits, while meekly acquiescing to Chinese regional military ambitions.
It was during the previous administration that the Chinese government began to arm the South China Sea, said Pompeo. The previous administration didn’t respond. It allowed them to continue to develop their capacity to move their People’s Liberation Navy out and around in the South China Sea. That was the kind of thing that the previous administration permitted.
Starting in January, after the worldwide coronavirus outbreak began, the Trump Administration tried numerous times to get CDC doctors into China but to no avail. In March, the president said he asked Chinese President Xi Jinping whether or not we could send some people, and they didnt want that.
Bidens campaign contends that the administration didnt push China hard enough. Back in February, Biden told reporters, I would insist that China allow our scientists in to make a hard determination of how it started. Bidens current campaign ad doesnt mention that two American health officials were included as part of a World Health Organization medical team that visited China back in February.
China is not without a way to do damage to anyone with a nuclear attack. China developed nuclear weapons during the Cold War and has since maintained a relatively modest arsenal of ~250 warheads and bombs. Fewer than a hundred of these weapons could reach the United States, though China, like Russia, has increase its capabilities in response to advances in US missile defense.
As China increases its military capacity in East Asia, and the US expands its military forces in the region, the risk of military conflict growsand so does the risk of nuclear war.
The Chinese capacity to conventional war has increased as they have been placing emphasis on their navy with the construction and launching of vessels. But they are geared to defense more than offense. Like any country that lives under third world thought processes, loss is acceptable if the goal is reached. Their main goal is to keep the mainland sound. (CYA) But they are aware they are years behind us in technology, size, and capacity. They don’t want direct conflict like Iran pushes for. But they are prepared to determine anything as an attack. I think you call that thin skinned, which can promote pre-mature reaction.

War with China? When’s Hunter Biden gonna weigh in?
The master sperm-depositor was bought and paid for by the Chinese just for times like this——
when China really needs American friends to come to their defense. Read on.

Twelve days after Hunter stepped off Air Force Two in Beijing with his daughter and his VP dad on an “official trip”, Hunter’s company signed a historic deal with the Bank of China, the state-owned financial behemoth often used as a tool of the Chinese government.
CHINA COZIES UP TO HUNTER The Bank of China had created a first-of-its-kind investment fund called Bohai Harvest RST (BHR). According to BHR, one of its founding partners was none other than Hunter’s Rosemont Seneca Partners LLC.
It was an unprecedented arrangement: the government of one of Americas fiercest competitors going into business with the son of one of Americas most powerful decision-makers.
Chris Heinz (John Kerrys stepson) claims neither he nor Rosemont Seneca Partners, the firm he had part ownership of, had any role in the deal with Bohai Harvest.
Nonetheless, Biden, Archer and the Rosemont name became increasingly involved with China. Archer became the vice chairman of Bohai Harvest, helping oversee some of the funds investments.
Troublingly, some of those investments had major implications for national security and the safety of Americans (Joe didnt give a dam-—Hunter was in the money)
To seal the deal, Hunter Bidens VP father met earlier with Chinese President Hu Jintao in Washington as part of the (cough) Nuclear Security Summit.
In December 2014, BHR became an anchor investor in the IPO of China General Nuclear Power Corp. (CGN), a state-owned energy company involved in the construction of nuclear reactors. In April 2016, the US Justice Department would charge CGN with stealing nuclear secrets from the United States actions prosecutors said could cause significant damage to our national security.
Of particular interest to CGN were sensitive, American-made components that, according to experts, resembled components used by the US on its nuclear submarines.

Schwartz, CEO of Loral Space & Communications Ltd...... First Clinton made sure to collect donations ........then he shipped Loral's US missile tech to China.

The monumental disaster of the US-China Relations Act is becoming clearer. It was Bill Clintons last (cough) "presidential accomplishment," the historic moment when a Democrat president of the greatest superpower of all time, sap-happily handed its demise to a backward country, poised to strip America of its intellectual and technological superiority.
Take out the Three Gorges Dam and China wont be a problem anymore
I agree with virtually everything you stated.
Be that as it may, I prefer to try a non-violent alternative of common sense. The trajectory is not promising, we both agree with that.
China's delusional - worse than the old USSR if they think ANY country (other than North Korea) would put up with the Chinese moving their totalitarian hellhole to ANY of our soils.. Chinese leaders are delusional.
Exactly!
China has been rattling that saber since September 12 2001.
So WTF is going to happen now? Will we get into a nuclear war? I think the left has no care in the world if 50 million more Americans die of a virus or a nuclear strike. China would cease to exist. The left is playing with fire. Hey,if it’s the end of the world,at least they got Trump in their eyes.
Nancy Pelosi probably approved the draft before it was ‘leaked’.
This is similar to earlier reports and “leaked” statements of higher ranking Chinese officials. It’s the scariest bit of news we can glean from the Web today. I fear we are closer to an armed conflict with China than most people know. My biggest concern is that the Chinese are so protective of their public persona at the same time seem to be trigger happy and on top of that being a Godless nation (the status quo) have absolutely no concept of honor or fair play, they will start an ever increasing campaign of confrontative, then armed attacks in ‘disputed’ areas involving Naval forces at first leading to larger preemptive actions at the same time deflect, spin, and spark outrage of world opinion into there favor trying weaken the U.S. and our Allies. They may find themselves so paranoid of a preemptive strike from us that they will strike first.
Not unless we crush their democrats first.
The South is now the most Patriotic part of the USA. We had to crush the democrats there, first, though.
Seriously, the thing I fear most is not what China could do, but what wrong assumptions their leadership take.
The worst would be if they assume, like the Japanese in mid-1941, that they could defeat the USA in a quick war with a initial series of devastating attacks.
Yamamoto warned them that they had to take the whole board or the USA would eventually rise up and destroy them, but they did not listen.
We Had a
Good Run.
Chicoms are willing to sacrifice their entire population and the Chinese are accustomed to hardship more so than Americans are.
Chicoms are willing to sacrifice their entire population and the Chinese are accustomed to hardship more so than Americans are.
The Chinese have been pretty much preparing for war for a while now, haven’t they? It’s why it’s so outrageous that democrats keep defending them. just a matter of the U.S. preparing.
