Biden Waffles on Running Mate [semi-satire]
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 31 May 2020 | John Semmens

Former Vice-President Joe Biden backed off from an earlier promise to choose "a woman of color" as his running mate for the November election, saying "my run-in with Charlamagne Tha God last week has caused me pause. I thought that skin color would be sufficient as a measure of authentic blackness. Now I have my doubts."

"Likewise, I have been informed that my classification of what constitutes a 'woman' may be too rigid for today's reality," Biden added. "What seemed simple is now complex. I thought Sen. Kamala Harris or Gov. Stacey Abrams were obvious choices. Now I'm not sure whether either one is authentically black or female. It has been pointed out to me that neither one has publicly proven either qualification. Perhaps it would be better to select someone like Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who despite all appearances, has declared herself to be a person of color. Or maybe I ought to go with Mayor Pete Buttigieg who appears to be white, but at least has chosen a nonstandard gender identification. We're going to need some more polls and focus groups to sort all this out and point me in the right direction."

Keep an eye on Keisha Lance Bottoms (Atlanta mayor). She checks all the "woke" boxes (black, female, and from a state the dems would like to flip), but without the baggage of a kamala harris or the hideous appearance and radicalness of a stacey abrams.

She is one of the few democrat mayors who came out and condemned the rioting while encouraging peaceful protesting and she seems to comport herself well in front of the cameras and on the microphone.

Since Biden's VP pick would likely become president if he were to win, she could be getting serious consideration by the party bosses, who will ultimately make the decision, as a "safe" pick.

It will 100% be a Black woman now. I think Tammy Duckworth and the Latinas (not to mention Warren) can take a seat.

Keisha Rodham Bottoms is certainly one. She has her funny surname and utter lack of qualification as problems.

There’s Val Demmings, impeachment inquisitor and former police chief in Orlando. BLM wouldn’t like the police chief part but it would make her palatable to Whites.

Harris is the ostensible front-runner and the only one that meets classic “qualifications” of holding statewide office but I don’t think he wants her prosecutorial record.
