Two hundred years ago, it would take months to get from New York City to Los Angeles. Hundreds of miles of rutted roads by horse and carriage and that would be the best part of the journey.
The people of 1821 would be amazed if they knew that within 200 years, you could make the journey in just a few hours in the comfort of a jetliner, where you would be drinking coffee or maybe having a Bloody Mary or two.
Now imagine that you could make the journey in just 15 minutes. How much would that change our world? We could have breakfast on the East Coast and be in Los Angeles before the sun even rises there.
You could live in the Mojave Desert of Southern California and commute to work in New York City. Or you could live in the backwoods of Maine and commute to LA.
Hydrogen was the problem with the Hindenburg, not standard helium which US would not give to the Germans.
Dirigibles flew fine with helium.
No. Helium is not explosive, but inert. It was the standard gas for dirigibles.

Now read your FReeper handle and grin.
No respect I tell ya! I called up my wife , I said “Honey, I was thinking about the last time we had sex and I’d like to get together’’.
She said “Who’s this?’’

To which I add, “Good shooting Tex”.
#13. An elephant having sex with the guy???? Forget the movie “Weird Science”. Make one entitled “Weird Sex”.
#47. You can’t see the other wee people because they are under the covers.
#55. Good one re “Well, I hate to brag “, but as the late Clara Peller would say, “Show me the beef”!
#77 re limpets and sex. It’s call “The Trickle Down Theory”.
Also it is a “marine” snail so you know the Marine Corps slogan - “Can Do”! /sarc
Also, the limpets’ theme song is “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” to keep me from getting to you.
I know. It was a popular culture reference. Click for details...
