Speaker Nancy Pelosi has a reputation… mark that, she has no reputation left. Nonetheless, she has pulled off the improbable with a callous, disrespectable act against America’s military, Gold Star Families, and the 13 slain U.S. service members who lost their lives due to Biden’s reckless military withdrawal from Afghanistan.
On Tuesday, Pelosi reached a new low by blocking their names from being read on the House floor. Multiple Congressmen reported on Pelosi’s ‘dirty deed.’
How can she stop someone from reading their names when they have the floor?

i think the reason for no pushback might be because she adjourned or something and there has been no opportunity under house rules to read the names into the record.
if one just reads the names on the floor without permission from the acting chair of the session, then a couple of things could happen:
* be gaveled down as out of order
* be dragged off by the sergeant at arms
* result in the meeting be adjourned indefinitely until further notice
a potential way around these possible blocking strategies, imaginably, is to gain floor chair recognition during discussion of some other issue, and then simply start reading off the names into the record in real time. it is not clear to me that she can prevent reading of the names indefinitely...
I emailed my congressman. Everybody needs to do likewise.
