I live in Manassas, Virginia and have an RV, which I took to the Camping World dealer where I purchased it for some service. My brother gave me a ride back to my home and on the drive he remarked that the dealerships did not have new vehciles in their showrooms and lots.
As we passed several dealerships on the way to my place, I looked over at the lots and showrooms. Sure enough, while there were many used vehicles, where new vehicles should be on the lots and in the showrooms, it was sparse to empty.
The big lie is they cannot get workers to build new cars and/or cannot get the drivers to haul the vehicles to the dealerships.
Has anyone else noticed this?
This administration and those that conspired to remove/cheat President Trump from a second term - Republicans and Democrats - are running this nation into the ground right into third world status.
Same thing in SE VA. Also true in the appliance stores. Orders are months till fulfillment. Gas and oil are way up too.
We’ve been looking to buy a new Hyundai SUV. Lots are very empty. And dealers that have any have a $2,000 to $2,500 mark up on them.
Yes......................
We had friends over for dinner. They told us some of their friends ordered new kitchen appliances and were quoted APRIL 2022 delivery!
I haven’t been in to an auto dealership in a few years, but the storage/over-flow lots I drive by, where the large local dealers store autos away from their main offices-showrooms, have been completely empty for some time.
Oh yea, car dealerships are just empty parking lots.
Went to our state fair last week and all the boats, cars, RV’s ect. were, were,... simply not there.
Just a bunch of migrant vendors.
It’s bad. I just had my car serviced at a local dealership, and the showroom was bare with only a handful of cars in the lot.
It’s from the shortage of microchips.
Who is the world’s largest producer of microchips? Why, Taiwan, of course!
Let’s go Brandon!
PS: Man, those Preppers sure were KooKy, right?
The industry designers are having trouble coming up with a new version of the soccer mom SUV that all the car makers could agree on so they took the year off...
They’re saying you need to order one or at least reserve one that is in transit.
I was planning to buy a new car but not under these conditions. Luckily my old one is still in good shape.
I can confirm in the great N.E. that I had my Toyota in for service recently. Took a walk around the dealership and there were almost no new cars, and not that many used cars either. Talked to the service tech and he said the 45 N.E. Toyota dealers only got 700 new cars between all of them in the last delivery. This dealership would normally have about 200 to 300 new cars on the lot.
Think autos are in short supply. Try to fine a new 2021 or 2022 over the road semi tractor. They are all sold.
It’s likely more than just chips.
Do folks see manufacturers howling about being able to get cars on the lots?
Nope.
There’s a reason for that.
They want to get Americans used to ordering cars.
Car dealers will become service centers with order windows.
Consumers will pay more.
Will have to wait longer.
And car salespeople better have a backup plan ready if they don’t want to train as auto techs.
The fact is that they can't get the microchips needed for the car's electronics. So assembly lines all over the country are shut down or working limited hours.
I have several printers on order from CDW for work. Greater that one year delivery date.
You can afford dinner?! Kidding aside, steak is nearly double what it was last year. Deli is almost never on sale.
Are you a descendant of the Van-Winkle family ?
How long have you been sleeping ?
This has been going on for months.
