The Wall Street Journal turned over some of its valuable editorial page real estate to John Kerry earlier this week. Today the Journal publishes three unadmiring letters in response:
The comparison by John Kerry of this month’s international climate carnival with the Constitutional Convention was preposterous (“COP26 Prepared the World to Beat Climate Change,” op-ed, Nov. 22).
....
The only thing historic about the Glasgow conference was its cost and carbon footprint. COP26 resulted in an estimated 102,500 tons of carbon-dioxide emissions. That’s more than the annual emissions of some of the nations that participated.

Sen. John Barrasso (R., Wyo.)
Credit John Kerry for trying to make the best out of the futile spectacle that was the COP26 climate conference. Despite COP26’s goal of “consigning coal to history,” coal remains for the foreseeable future the No. 1 fuel for electricity generation world-wide.
Ahead of the conference, West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin exercised his own veto of sorts to effectively block President Biden from zeroing out the U.S. coal industry by 2030. Neither the coal-loving Chinese nor Russian presidents (both putting off “net zero” until 2060) even bothered to attend the conference. The leader of coal-dependent India showed up but delayed his country’s elusive net-zero goal until an unimaginable 2070.

All that global warming is a war on the USA!
USA is a Saudi Arabia of coal! We have like 70% of world coal, most of it the best quality! We should switch our energy needs 90% to coal, make gas out of it, etc. Instead, we are self inflicting troubles on myself, loosing energy, money and jobs, just to satisfy some hoax over there!
Kerry figures he’ll get another Purple Heart for fighting climate change.
Rich doofuses pay a lot of money to be shielded from the dirty side of life. You can be sure Kerry doesn’t pay his bills, service his jet and yacht, stoke the furnaces and fertilize his lawns. They are so isolated from the real world that they seem to really believe in fairy dust making all things easy and clean. Seth Rogan took flack this week for downplaying car break-ins when he said the fourteen times it has happened to him is no big deal. Which is probably true as he has assistants to handle all the chores of cleaning up the mess, emptying the cars, contacting the insurance company, arranging for repairs, delivery of the vehicle to the repair shop and alternate transportation while it’s in the repair shop.
Much of society now is involved in shielding people from the dirty sides of a luxurious life. The realities of mining, manufacturing, refining, waste management, food production and such are relegated to hidden corners of the world for them. Everything can be accomplished absolutely clean and cheap when you know only part of the equation for creating a nice life. It’s why people like Greta can have such a following these days. The whole notion of trade-offs is absolutely denied.
There are so few of them, yet far too many.
Kerry’s emissions = blowing smoke out his patrician ass?
The reason these “warmists” cannot be shamed about the extraordinary amount of carbon dioxide they dump into the atmosphere, is that inside, they KNOW (at least intuitively) that carbon dioxide is NOT a pollutant, and it contributes NOTHING to global temperatures, either plus or minus.
Carbon dioxide once existed in earth’s atmosphere in far greater quantities than now noted, and yet life persisted, thrived, even. The carbon dioxide got turned into carbohydrates and free oxygen, an element that could not exist in the free state unless it is constantly replenished by the same magic that also produces carbohydrates.
Human beings, along with most other life forms on this planet, are a highly adaptable species, and rather that try to “change” the environment, which is a fool’s errand, the majority of life forms simply adapt to the revised conditions.
