Question: The state of the GA runoff

Posted on 11/22/2022 10:30:09 AM PST by HamiltonJay

So the GA runoff is 2 weeks from today.

For those in GA whats going on on the ground? Other than some posts regarding getting early voting started earlier and that suit.. haven't seen much.

Walker lost by .9% of the vote, and libertarian got 2.1%

It's hard to see Warnock losing much of his vote, so is there a shot a walker getting any of that 2.1%? Is the GOP ground game strong enough to seriously mount the turnout needed to win?

Last runoff Democrats managed to do better than a combination of the 2 D's running in first round combined, even with lover overall turnout in the runoff.

Is the GOP/walker ground game, strong enough to get the turnout/vote needed to have a shot?

“I fear Warnock will win rather handily, but GA people won’t say much about why they back him.”

Last I looked GA is 41% black and Hispanic. Even splitting off some of the Hispanic, and a few blacks, that leaves a big base for Democrats.

Election reform did away with a lot of the mail-voting, and almost all the drop-boxes are gone, but Dems have done a number on Walker in TV ads. Given his past struggles Walker has been an easy target, and Warnock is very effective at playing the middle-class guy next door who understands your problems.

Kari wins in the end (see tagline).

Just saying she had to lose on 11/8.

There are a few Warnock yard signs floating around and pretty much no Walker signs that I’ve seen. I’m not sure there is a great deal of enthusiasm for this senate race.

Satan’s preacher is running ads with a Beagle again in an attempt to bamboozle some of the less educated voters.

He’s also running ads featuring fake Republican Karen’s saying they aren’t voting for Walker.

I don’t see a whole lot of Walker ads. Maybe Mitch is saving the funds for helping Murkowski.

The 17th is much more fundamental!
The 17th breaks the fundamental arrangement of national governance as set up by the Founding Fathers between the states, the federal government and the citizens.

That’s is what I am asking, is the GOP ground game there really strong enough to drive turnout?

Clearly they failed miserably in the last runoff... Dems got more votes total than during the general election even with lower overall turnout.

Agreed, the 17th ended the states having any direct say in the federal government... it completely bastardized the principles of this nation.

I live in Cobb County and have had two knocks on the door by Walker volunteers.

He appears to have a really good ground game, and I get one or two text messages a day from his campaign.

I really think he can win this.

Look I am looking for real information but complaints about cheating etc.

This is clearly going to boil down to turnout and ground game.

Last runoff the Democrats crushed it in that category.

I can tell you first hand in my state the GOP grand game was pathetic given the high profile nature of the Senate race here... spent gobs of money on tv ads, and nagged people constantly via text, but the actual bots on the ground drumming up votes, was 2nd rate compared to what the D’s had going on.

Does the GA GOP have the ground game to really get voters to vote in this runoff? The D’s will be scrapping for every vote they can find... has the GOP of GA learned its lesson?

Clearly the cleanup of the shenanigans from 2020 helped, won the Governorship solidly, but this one for a myriad of reasons didn’t happen, so flat out, can and will the existing machinery in GA be able to produce the ground game needed to drive the turnout needed to win this race?

I don’t live in GA, so I have no idea.. yes, with the Senate decided its not nearly as motivating as it would be, but that’s where we are, can’t change that.

That’s good to hear that they actually have folks pounding the pavement... that’s what needs to be happening all the time...

Pre-TV that’s how these parties built their loyalties, by providing things for folks to do and be part of something bigger...

TV ended that as most folks just vegged out, rather that engaged in other things...

But that type of old school foot traffic is absolutely needed...

Notice ‘cheating’ isn’t even considered in discussing Nov 8 results. Laughable!

You are welcome to talk about it all you want but Whining about it doesn’t change anything…

Th purpose of this thread is to find out real info about the runoff not listen to people offer conjecture about cheating or otherwise.
