Fast food chain Burger King is set to close up to 400 locations across the country this year, with the under-performing ones being the first to go.
According to the Daily Mail, Burger King CEO Joshua Kobza confirmed the closures after the company announced its results for the first quarter of 2023. The earnings release noted that from the start of the year until March, Burger King closed 124 locations – leaving 6,964 restaurants still operating. This is a historic high, said Kobza, as the fast food chain usually closes a couple of hundred stores annually.
However, the CEO clarified that not all of the 300 to 400 locations set to close this year have been revealed. He also admitted that there is “a fair degree of uncertainty” around the plans. Sales performance can vary greatly between Burger King locations; one poorly-performing location could see things turn out in its favor the next month.
The company is seeking additional franchisees with stronger finances this year, according to Burger King Chairman Patrick Doyle. He also hinted at the possibility of under-performing franchisees being axed.

Whoppers are too expensive.
I’ve stopped stoppin’.
A combination of too few good workers in the available pool coupled with a sky-high minimum wage and along with inflated costs of food by-products (just kidding) and poor availability of many items.
I don’t like the black stripes painted on the patties.
Noticed the one right down the street from me closed a few weeks ago. Haven’t eaten at one in years.
A good popular product in its class. But some of the new inflated prices are just too d… high for many people who have enjoyed patronizing them in the past
And I don’t like the pride burgers
They shut down ours over two years ago. And this is a college town and the shop was 4 blocks from the school campus.
I won’t miss em cuz the food sucks
The crazy deal of Omaha Steak hamburgers from aged steak cuts offerings are cheaper.
The world has gone crazy.
I still enjoy not eating the bugs of
Jao and the WEF.

How many of these are in a high crime libtard run city? Will we hear about “burger deserts”?
I almost lived on Burger King in college, so I would eat at one a couple times a year just to reminisce. I haven’t eaten at one since they released the rainbow whopper.
And BK is woker than woke.
I won’t go there with coupon
Build back better.
As I drive along the Interstates on occasion I enjoy getting some glutens, lettuce, tomatoes and beef.
YMMV
“We need to close 400 stores.”
“Have it your way.”
Inflation is surely not helping. I know in my area we lost a Wendy’s and a couple other smaller fast foods due to depending only on drive-thru because they cannot find enough workers to be able to open up 100%. Wendy’s here finally closed its doors due to labor shortage (at $18 an hour to start!)
Burger King down the street has on their sign “Now hiring 15 and 16 year olds”.
Places are having to close because of staffing issues. If you cannot open 100%, you cannot make the money.
The cooks wore sanitary gloves, nice touch.
And we in line watched with heightened amazement as one of the gloved burger cooks stuck a finger in his ear, approvingly examined the wax (or whatever icky stuff) on his finger, wiped the hand clumsily on his apron, and went back to assembling hamburgers.
I left the line, never again to return to a Burger King.
I can't imagine being that hungry.
