There is a "Highly Habitable" Planet Just 4 light years from Us, Astronomers Say
The Space Academy ^ | June 11, 2023

A nearby exoplanet orbiting within the habitable zone of a star just 4.2 light-years from Earth may be home to a vast ocean, boosting its chances of supporting life. Since its discovery, questions about the conditions at the surface of Proxima b have been swirling; the planet’s mass is just about 1.3 times that of Earth’s, and the red dwarf star it circles is similar in age to our sun.

Studies over the last few years, however, have both bolstered hopes of its habitability and shot them down. Now, a new study has once again raised the possibility that Proxima b could support life, suggesting that under the right conditions, the exoplanet could sustain liquid water.

“The major message from our simulations is that there’s a decent chance that the planet would be habitable,” Anthony Del Genio, a planetary scientist at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, told LiveScience.

In the study published this month in the journal Astrobiology, the researchers ran what are said to be the first climate simulations of Proxima b with a dynamic ocean. The planet is thought to be tidally locked with its star, Proxima Cent

They would probably select “woke” people and the males would breed with males and females would breed with females and for some unknown reason no progeny were produced and by the time the spacecraft got there, the remaining ones were dying of old age and the trip was for nothing.

Trump should just declare this new planet uninhabitable. Every lefty will die trying to get there. Problem solved.

You are told at boarding, your plane has a “decent” chance of not crashing.

Bet your life on “decent”?

I could see that happening too.

They could do like the plant Kypton and come up with the COTIS system using a DNA database of all the elite woke people and social media influencers. When they finally land the only thing, they will know how to do is bitch about how bad earth was and take selfies.

As far as I can recall the Parker solar probe is the fastest manmade object in history at 430,000 mph. At this speed it only take a little over 6,700 years to travel there.

Sustain water?

Hmm, now what are the three basic things we cannot live without? Seems like there’s an important one we can’t do without for more then a few minutes, Oh yeah AIR.

Does it have air/oxygen?

They built a model with an ocean, doesn’t mean there is one.

And how many pieces of the puzzle are missing?

This planet is only 24 trillion miles away.

Now if we could just develop a propulsion system as fast as our government spends money, we could be there in 2-3 years!

There is current technology that once implemented could increase speeds enough to get us there in 40-100 years.

So if they extended my life span by 50-110 years, this might be doable for me to make the trip.

Don’t Red Dwarf Stars emit a lot more radiation than our sun? My understanding is that they do and that this radiation would kill all life unless a planet were protected by a strong magnetosphere.

Send a self-piloting drone ship with a program to explore the entire surface of the planet and send the data back to Earth...........

There's a pretty cool 2005 Docufiction movie made just on that topic, "Alien Planet"

4-light years!

It should only take a couple of centuries to get there!

Time’s a-wasting!
