TUSTIN, Calif. - Multiple people were arrested and dozens of cars impounded after police in Tustin busted a massive illegal street takeover Saturday night.

According to police, an estimated 200 vehicles participated and were reportedly doing donuts and driving on the wrong side of the road. Fireworks were also being launched, authorities said.

As a result of the raid, 18 people were arrested, 20 citations issued, and 51 vehicles impounded for various vehicle code violations.

Whoever decided to have it on the old USMC station chose poorly. It has limited exits and is on the border with the City of Irvine, which has a zero tolerance for street takeovers. The Irvine police reported another 68 vehicles towed.

Lol, they did it at El Toro? Irvine and OC PD shut that down in a second. You’re messing with rich people who expect the police to do something.

Same thing in Austin. Thought city name was misspelled.

That right there will cool their jets. They may go elsewhere and do wrong where it is allowed; they learn quick which jurisdictions to avoid.

It was at the old Tustin USMC Air Station (H). If you notice in the photo there’s an old airship hanger in the background. Judging by the photo the street takeover was at Warner and Tustin Ranch Road.

Two hundred huh? Cops must have been prepared for this. NYPD did it a few years ago with the motorcycle guys . Filled a full-size semi trailer with impounded bikes, dumped them on the street and ran them over with a steam roller.

I don’t condone this activity by the “youths”.

But this is where the police draw the line? These are the laws that can’t be broken, where the police respond with overwhelming force?

Not burglary? Not drug trafficking? Not human trafficking? Not any of the myriad of crimes that go ignored and unpunished in LA-LA land?

South Orange County is among the safer areas of the United States and the OC DA is Todd Spitzer, a solid tough on crime Republican. So crimes don’t go ignored or unpunished in south OC.

“If we weren’t clear enough earlier this year, we will not tolerate this reckless and dangerous behavior. If you come to Tustin to race, we look forward to chatting about local laws as your car is loaded on the tow truck. At the end of our chat, you may have to sign a thing or two,” the police department said on social media.
