Why are Some Evolutionists Opposed to Evolution

In the book 40 Questions About Creation and Evolution (40 Questions Series) by Kenneth D. Keathley and Mark F. Rooker, Kregal Publications, 2014, include a chapter called “Why are Some Evolutionists Opposed to Evolution.” In this chapter, the authors mention the work of James Shapiro (author of Evolution: A View from the 21st century), Jerry Folder and Massimo Piatelli-Palamarini, (authors of What Darwin Got Wrong), and Thomas Nagel (author of Mind and Cosmos: Why the Materialist Neo- Darwinist Conception of Nature Is Almost Certainly False). These authors have written about the shortcomings of the Neo-Darwinian paradigm that has dominated academia for so long. They say the following:

“Cognitive scientists Jerry Fodor and Massimo Piattelli-Palmarini published a critique of Darwinism provocatively named What Darwin Got Wrong. They begin by declaring that they are atheists, not just run-of-the-mill atheists, but “outright, card-carrying, signed-up, dyed-in-the-wool, no-holds-barred atheists.

The headline and article are nothing but a cheap attempt to supply Creationists who barely passed their 8th-grade science class with some handy rhetorical ammunition to smugly fend off (not really refute) pro-evolution arguments.

"See! Even lots of scientists and atheists say that Darwinism is flawed!"

(In reality, these experts are essentially quibbling over details, not attacking foundational theory.)

So now these Creationists can deliver their verbal broadsides - without ever actually trying to grasp what these critics are really saying (hint: they are still materialists, still proceed from the plausible assumption that only prosaic geo-physical and biochemical mechanisms and processes gave rise to Life).

Regards,

Even the RC church finds Darwin to be the correct answer.

I spoke with Humanity’s great spokesman, the late Stephen Jay Gould. His writings on sudden leaps during evolution is ascendant.

Whether the larger brachial arteries humans have evolved in recent times will result in greater survivability remains to be seen.

While we demand to know this month, the true answer may take millions of years to disclose...

Will it be plausible for you to claim invincible ignorance at your special judgment?

Exactly what is evolution? It's an unseen (metaphysical) energy that supposedly works on matter over billions of years. Ancients called this energy serpent power. Hindus call it goddess kundalini.

Has this energy ever been observed or sensed in any way? No. So evolution is not empirical science but occult scientism.

Darwinism is a hoax, the same as global warming/cooling/change.

The world is managed by hoaxes.

One of the most damaging is Darwin’s theory of evolution. It was “confirmed” as settled science, and the correct conclusion, its corollary, was that the Bible was fiction and there is no God.

However, later science confirmed that Darwin’s writings were fiction, but the fictitious corollary was, ahem, allowed to stay in place, as firm as ever.

I suppose that "mundane" would have been the better word.

If you accept Darwin’s premise that evolution is just Selective Breeding guided by necessity, then we should be able to selectively breed a horse with wings. We can’t.

There is nothing in science known iwn as “Darwinism”. What’s possibly mean is evolutionary biology, a fact based science closely related to modern genetics. It’s validity is tested thousands of times every day in labs all over the world.

Have you ever been in a lab in your life?

I do a lot of driving, and during that time I have a lot of time to ponder(keeps the voices in my head at bay, lol)
Here are a couple of thoughts

Why are there so many varieties of trees and especially within certain groups like oaks, red, white, pin…. What is the “evolutionary” benefit to that?

This lead me to fruit trees. Ostensibly the fruits of the trees are simply seed pods, but most trees don’t go to that extreme. Takes lots of energy to grow an apple or a pear compared to other tree seeds. One person said it is so animals eat them and then spread the seeds…, but my response was, have you ever been walking through the woods and came across an apple tree or pear tree. Sure there are examples, but I have done a lot of hiking in my days and never have.
Could it be that these trees were created as a good food source for others, mind you a good source for others is not an evolutionary benefit for the tree.

That lead me to(yup lots of time) to chicken eggs. Again what’s the evolutionary benefit to the chicken to lay a consumable egg, nearly one a day, to the chicken? Benefits is, gives us a nice food source, but to the chicken it is again a highly energy intensive effort with little if any benefit to them. Additionally name me any other bird that does the same egg laying pattern.

Lastly and not my thought but someone else’s that made me think, say the lightning strike on the ooze created the first life, did it also create the food source to feed this life

Random thoughts sparked by this thread

They believe in evolution. They don’t like it, and they want to stop it.

Sounds like we should just “trust the science” again.

Vaxx pushers and warmists have this same schtick.

What I find fascinating is how many Democrats are atheists, who believe in natural selection through adapting to environment. Yet they refuse to believe that government policies can shape people's behavior (i.e. generations of the welfare state making people less self-reliant, or the Laffer Curve in which lowering tax rates result in increased government revenue, etc.).

You'd think I, who believes we're created by God, would be one of the last to believe that government can change society, and the atheist Dims would be the first to believe it.
