1/ Within the next several days, barring intervention from Congress, the Biden Regime, in violation of the law, will remove the Confederate Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery, commissioned to celebrate the reconciliation of North and South.

@blueandgray1864 @oilfieldRando

2/ The memorial is considered the masterwork of the renowned Jewish-American sculptor Sir Moses Ezekiel (a former Confederate soldier who was described by his biographer as “adamantly opposed to slavery") who is buried at its base.

3/ Ezekiel, knighted by the King of Italy, was so dedicated to North-South reconciliation that he would later host commanding Union General Ulysses S. Grant at his studio.

4/ Yet in the wake of the George Floyd moral panic, this memorial was scheduled for removal, though its removal is being done in violation of several federal laws and the clear text of the legislation, which excludes graves.

5/ As former Democrat Senator and Navy Secretary Jim Webb said:

“What was it that Union Army veteran McKinley understood about the Confederate soldiers who opposed him on the battlefield that eludes today’s monument smashers and ad hominem destroyers of historical reputations?”

6/ In fact, at the time it was constructed, some major Confederate groups opposed it because they opposed the reconciliation it symbolized.

7/ Webb, a Vietnam Veteran, has spoken about taking groups of North and South Vietnamese to the monument to show how the U.S. reconciled successfully after a bitter civil war

8/ 44 House Republicans have signed a letter opposing the removal but every Republican should be on record as opposing this lawless action

9/ But of course, this is never *really* about the Confederacy or “Confederate Statues”. The same spirit animated the recent removal of the statue of Thomas Jefferson from the New York City Council, where it had stood for 187 years.

...because they have no sense of Honor transcending the petty vanities of the moment.

Their souls are hollow — and they are unable to change.

No perspective beyond the immediate.

I will pray for them — which would make them laugh.

From the Arlington Cemetery site:

The memorial has images of it…“Two of these figures are portrayed as African American: an enslaved woman depicted as a “Mammy,” holding the infant child of a white officer, and an enslaved man following his owner to war. An inscription of the Latin phrase “Victrix causa diis placuit sed victa Caton” (“The victorious cause was pleasing to the gods, but the lost cause to Cato”) construes the South’s secession as a noble “Lost Cause.””

I can understand why some people might not like that depiction of the war. Certainly, my relatives who literally gasped life and limb, did not consider it a lost cause. And while the confederate academics argue that the war was not about slavery, it was pretty clear from contemporaneous writing from my family that was the reason they and more of their peers were there.

I am all for the confederate soldiers being buried there. I am all for allowing statues in Richmond, or flying their silly flag on your truck. However,Suggesting that the union fought a war that is “a lost cause” is an insult to the thousands of soldiers buried there.

I guess the Democrats are on a roll now. So will all federal and state buildings named after klansman Senator Robert Byrd be renamed? It’s worth noting that Byrd wasn’t just an average klan member, somebody who sat in the back row at meetings.

Byrd was an Exalted Cyclops. That means he wasn’t just a local klan leader. He was THE local klan leader.

Oops. I forgot that Byrd was also a Democrat, and a good friend of Biden’s. Never mind.

I don’t agree with slavery, it should have been abolished. It’s an abomination.

I also don’t agree with destroying history, or those monuments that force an ideology that the US civil war was all about slavery. It wasn’t all about slavery. Most of those that fought on both sides fraught for reasons other than slavery. Most of the soldiers in the south never even owned slaves.

Re-opening the wounds of the civil war will NOT lead to better healing. It will no enlighten those ignorant to the causes behind the war in the first place, slavery being only one of them. It will NOT strengthen the nation and it will NOT drive bigotry and racism from people hearts.

More Obama racial garbage, the division of the people of America into groups, instead of all being Americans with a history. The great divider and his minions continue a plan that IMHO weakens the nation, results in violence, and addresses none of the problems facing the people trying employ or stay employed.

The relatively bloodless and quick healing of our nation after our bloodiest war of brother against brother used to be a shining example of the strength of the character and morality of our people and demonstrated the granite foundation of our Christian culture and unity.

When I was a little boy growing up in Texas and then as a teen watching Americans playing golf on the moon I never dreamed that 21st-century America would be a dark and backward place wracked with primitive passions and hatreds with long-forgotten arguments from distant centuries brought back fresh and passionately to drive the activities and lives of those future people.

It’s almost as if Obama hates America and wants to fundamentally transform her.

This is not a big deal. I don’t have the source right now, but Arlington Cemetery itself was started on the grounds of the Custis estate so that General Lee’s family would not want or be able to reclaim their property after the War Between the States. Removal of a favorable Confederate memorial is completely in keeping with the original intent of the cemetery in my view.

So you don’t have a problem with it being done illegally and the rule of law being dead?

They’re still just warming up. I’ll bet if we don’t change the regime, in the next 4 years they’ll come for the monuments at Gettysburg

demonstrated the granite foundation of our Christian culture and unity
Well said.
Our Constitution was designed for a moral and religious people. Christians believe in allowing choice. None is going to behead you if you don’t follow. It promotes forgiveness and Grace. We lost those when they removed the Ten Commandments from the town square.
