Special Counsel Jack Smith wants to prevent President Trump from blaming provocateurs and undercover agents for the January 6 Capitol riot.
“Through public statements, filings and argument in hearings before the court, the defense has attempted to inject into this case partisan political attacks and irrelevant and prejudicial issues that have no place in a jury trial,” Jack Smith’s 20-page filing said.
“Although the court can recognize these efforts for what they are and disregard them, the jury — if subjected to them — may not. The court should not permit the defendant to turn the courtroom into a forum in which he propagates irrelevant disinformation, and should reject his attempt to inject politics into this proceeding,” Smith wrote according to the court filing reviewed by The Gateway Pundit.
Trump’s trial date for Jack Smith’s January 6 case is currently scheduled for March 4, 2024 (election interference).

You're right. He did try to prevent Trump from defending himself publicly. Now he wants to limit how Trump can defend himself in court.
It is a shame that we do not have republican "leaders" speaking publicly, eloquently, and frequently about this tyranny from the democrats and their functionaries in our institutions.
Every undercover federal agent and officer present at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2001, should be prosecuted for unlawful provocation against peaceful protestors. The only reason for these scoundrels to be disguised is they were engaging in criminal conspiracy and overt criminal acts against Americans exercising their First Amendment rights.
These federal officers are no better than members of the Nazi Gestapo in Hitler’s Germany.
They are lawless thugs acting in disregard of American law and the U.S. Constitution.

Whoa! I did not know this. We know FBI knows names & social security numbers of every one at the Capitol on Jan 6. If Capitol window breakers weren’t charged, they had to be Biden’s brown shirts, or FBI agents.
Before mounting the scaffolding, the Scaffold Commander participated in removing the fencing that prevented trespassing onto the Capitol grounds.
No trespassing and restricted area signs were taken down when the fencing was removed, denying the public the warnings that the signs provided.
The Scaffold Commander has never appeared on the FBI wanted list.
