Special Counsel Jack Smith wants to prevent President Trump from blaming provocateurs and undercover agents for the January 6 Capitol riot.
“Through public statements, filings and argument in hearings before the court, the defense has attempted to inject into this case partisan political attacks and irrelevant and prejudicial issues that have no place in a jury trial,” Jack Smith’s 20-page filing said.
“Although the court can recognize these efforts for what they are and disregard them, the jury — if subjected to them — may not. The court should not permit the defendant to turn the courtroom into a forum in which he propagates irrelevant disinformation, and should reject his attempt to inject politics into this proceeding,” Smith wrote according to the court filing reviewed by The Gateway Pundit.
Trump’s trial date for Jack Smith’s January 6 case is currently scheduled for March 4, 2024 (election interference).

Prosecutors seeking to deny the accused of their defenses is the hallmark of justice, don’tcha-know.
To date, the FBI is still not being honest about this. Wait until a jury hears that their were HUNDREDS of government agents involved stirring things up.
If Fed Agents were present, how is it NOT relevant?
Then again... expecting logic from a Leftist is a long wait to no end.
Withheld evidence is cause for appeal. There will be a long list of such reasons.
“ …the defense has attempted to inject into this case partisan political attacks and irrelevant and prejudicial issues …” Jack Smith’s 20-page filing said.”
You cannot make this stuff up. We are living in the Twilight Zone.
Or Justice.
Heavens to Betsy that President Trump be allowed to make his case in front of a jury! Jury nullification is only for black defendants.

This seems contradictory. Either it is irrelevant, or is a lie. If it is a lie, than I don't think it is irrelevant. It's just untrue. If it is irrelevant, does that not imply that it is true? Nevertheless, an accused man should be given every latitude to defend himself. Smith seems eager to stifle any defense from Trump. Doesn't seem like the actions of a prosecutor who has such 'sprawling evidence' against President Trump.
It’s already gone as it will be found he’s illegally appointed; he’s twisting in the wind.
He has already tried to prevent Trump from defending himself in the public forum. No he was evidence that the government he represents was directly involved in and instigated much of the actions on Jan 6.
I heard a House representative say that there was footage in the capitol building of officers in police uniforms going into rooms and coming out with MAGA hats and plain clothes.
If I was the Judge I would JAIL HIM just for making that statement that evidence is irrelevant and prejudicial.
This is what they did to Alex Jones. He was not allowed to present a defense. He was not even allowed to plead innocent.
The “evidence” against a defendant should speak for itself but Heaven forbid a defendant be permitted to defend himself! Yeah, there’s a winning strategy.
If Trump is guilty, then so are the folks that let them in.
When your prosecutorial strategy requires you to hide known facts, just maybe you’re doing wrong
A black DC jury might be sympathetic to a white man who was set up by the FBI. After all, most of the original Black Panthers were assassinated thanks to the FBI.
The old suppression of evidence to the jury ploy.
