There are too many border crossings and visas required for this scenario to work. Any of those border events could generate a vehicle search.
This event had to be orchestrated carefully, and likely way above Ukraine’s paygrade.

Weapons and equipment can be smuggled in and pre-positioned IN RUSSIA for handoff at an appropriate time. Ukraine has gotten needed ordnance into Russia before when it wanted. An example would be the truck bombing of the Kerch bridge.

No, because when the terrorists showed up the armed bodyguards of the owner of the venue, who was there for this concert, were standing around in the front of the building. Listen to the interview or read the transcript I provided.
Why did the terrorists flee to the most heavily guarded border in the world? In every official statement you see from Putin or the Russian government it is noted that “a window had been opened by the Ukes on their side of the border”.
