~The Dragon Flies' Lair VI ~
December 17,2003 | bentfeather

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Love Eternal

It was beside a sibilant sea,
striding the sands of life,
that I found the single treasure,
and made her forever my wife.

No gold except for twin rings of pledge,
no jewels so rare as vows soft said,
or hearts bound by a ribbon red,
along the path where God has led.

In gifting time I would do more,
but time and fate do limit ranges of the heart,
yet still I give all forever more,
and receive the same in equal part.

Thank You Trike. Good to see you. I just posted a beautiful Irish song, was kinda of thinking of you.

How are things going? Still working those long hours?
Trike, do you know we have been writing back and forth now for one year?

A YEAR!

Long enough to finally know your first name? ;^)

PM me sometime, we need to see if we can't get to know each other better. (eyebrows raise in a distinctly 'Groucho' manner, complete with leer and cigar!)

You got it!! Will do the mail thingy. Yes, It was one year ago more or less.

So many bridges
have been crossed
Thanks be to God
so many friends have
not been lost...
In gratitude I write
these words
a friend is a gem
in a cold hard world.

A Beautiful Tapestry

Each road I've walked
each song I've sung
each pang of regret I've felt
each ache of pain I have suffered
each time I walked alone, I knew
my life was weaving a beautiful show
of friends held so dear the heart
of some who left not friends at all
but left me hanging on the wall
some like ivy on the walls clinging
to memory not letting go
and they haunt the very core of me
I cry at times to be set free
Each friend a page in my life's book
some of them with a come hither look
some with smiles and some with frowns
some in silk and satin gowns
some square jawed and stern
like a grandmother who ruled
with an iron glove and really didn't
show much love...
My tapestry is beautiful and rather
well worn, I've raised four children
daughters all, lovely woman straight and tall
Grandchildren by the half dozen
the joy of life like warm cookies from the oven
The tapestry woven string by string
tears and laughter stained some thread
and I thank God I am not dead.

The music of Sissel Kyrkjebo and The Chieftains is absolutely gorgeous, ms. feather! I've got to look for the CD....this would be perfect to listen to while working on glass. Soothing, which might keep me calm enough to keep me from cutting these poor fingers so often. LOL!!

I walked in the valley
Of deepest despair
sought only comfort
sent forth a prayer

Fell foes gather 'round me
Shadows draw near
In gathering twilight
I labor in fear

Out through the darkness
On through the night
song of my soul
sang of my plight

He gathered me up
Took me on high
Where roamed only thunder
'Neath shimmery sky

I walked with the master
As twilight was scattered
Banishing shadows
That no longer mattered

This is from the Glass Hammer song Farewell to Shadowlands. Hope it's okay to share non-original poems on this thread.

Good Lyrics. Original work and favorite works of the poster are usually welcome here. Just don't post and Dixie Chicks songs.

My soul is a butterfly

My soul
Is a butterfly,
Beating its wings
Against the cage
That is
My life.

Friends

A little Springer Spaniel,
Who follows him around.
Speaks volumes of his nature,
No better judge is found.
When dogs like you, you’re someone,
Not just an empty suit.
The love you give a faithful dog,
Will always bear you fruit.
If you like dogs that says a lot,
About the soul you bear.
But when the love’s a two way street,
The partnership is fair.
The bond is strong and touching,
Between this man and friend.
God Bless George Bush and Spotty,
To them this poem I send.
