Daily Prayer Thread - 20 Aug 2004

Proverbs 4 (KJV)
Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

(MSG)
5 Sell everything and buy Wisdom! Forage for Understanding! Don't forget one word! Don't deviate an inch!
6 Never walk away from Wisdom--she guards your life; love her--she keeps her eye on you.
7 Above all and before all, do this: Get Wisdom! Write this at the top of your list: Get Understanding!

Dear FRiends and prayer warriors:

Please pray for a friend of mine here at work. She and her husband had wanted a baby for quite a while -- 3 months ago, little Elijah was born. Perfect, sweet, beautiful...everything that a baby should be.

Today he went back to be with Jesus.

I work at a paper (a rather conservative one) and the halls usually ring with laughter or chatter by the door to my office. Most of the folks who work here genuinely love what they do, and it shows. Today the halls are quiet. Women in heels are tiptoeing -- everyone is shocked and grieving. Please remember Elijah's family in your prayers, as well as those of us who are shocked, saddened, and desperately wishing we could ease the mother's pain.

May God welcome his little lamb back into the fold.

Kimberly

Kimberly,

Of course I will remeber litle Elijah and his family in prayer, as well as those around him. I know I'll never understand many things, but I have faith in the plan that God has chosen.

May God bless, and comfort those in need.

Heavenly Father, we return to give thanks for the joy of Elijah's visitation upon this earth. Only You, O God, know the reason for the shortness of his life and only You, O God, can touch the unreachable depths of grief in the hearts of his parents and family and friends. Sustain his beloved Mom and Dad that they not be crushed under the weight of deepest despair ... fill their empty arms with the love and comfort of those who minister during this dark time ... be the Love Song that sings them to sleep, as they would do for their beloved babe. You are the Creator of Life, and at Your Word, we return from whence we came. In tears and in sorrow, with absolutely no understanding, we say, Blessed be the Name of the Lord. Amen ...

May God surround the family with His love and comfort. Sometimes we must bear the unbearable, and take comfort in the sure and certain knowledge that the Lord knows our sufferings, will dry our tears, and make all things right in His own time.

Dear Lord, come quickly to fill the empty hearts of these parents. Send Your angels to minister and Thy Spirit to comfort. We trust in You Lord, leaning not on our own understanding. We praise you Father for You are faithful in all things.

I'd like to thank Freepers who prayed for my grandmother a few months ago. She died Thursday morning in Austin.

I will pray for them.

Please remember my family in prayer, too. My husband was near suicide the other night. Thankfully, I'm a nurse. We've been in a foreign country trying to start a business. It's been a nightmare experience. We've been left totally broke and are relying on the goodness of family to get us airline tickets home. The Lord has shown us such an outpouring of love from family, but my husband really needs help with strength to go on, just to even pack a suitcase. He is so totally emotionally drained. Thank you.
