My neighbor's dog brought home a human skull, what

Posted on 09/27/2004 12:19:18 PM PDT by jilley

should I do? We live out in the country and the dog brought it home a few weeks ago. She says she wants to keep it for decoration and it is now stuck on her fence post. When I take her the paper every day, it creeps me out. Her dog is always leaving deer horns in my yard also, so it must be out there killing deer and breaking their horns off.

She says she wants to keep it for decoration and it is now stuck on her fence post.,P>Of course she's going to tell you it is a monkey's skull then. She wants to keep it.

And a monkey's skull would be small. An ape's would be larger, but there would be too many differences between them in regards to craniofacial landmarks. Call the police.

I think that Jilley has left the building. It's a monkey skull, that's her story, and she's sticking to it.

Every state has different laws, but I am willing to bet this is a felony in every state. What state do you live in? Do a search on your state laws concerning the treatment of human remains. Print it out and take it to your friend. Ask your friend how she would feel if that were her loved one perched on the post! Are you the only one that ever sees this fencepost? What if this is a murder victim and your friend becomes a suspect because of this morbid behavior?

The more I think about, the more I think that the photo I posted was a chimp. I doubt that monkeys have fangs that size, and it looks overall kinda large. I just googled up "monkey skulls" and grabbed one. Monkey skulls don't look human, even to a casual observer.

that looks quite chimp-like. Thanks. It's not the same as the photo I posted. I'll have to go back and read a little to see what I posted - I got too quick on the mouse button.

If it were me, I'd wait till after halloween. Not often you get to have a real human skull in your yard for the the festivities.

Yeah, my dog brought home a dead person one time. I propped it up on the front porch and had coffee with it every night. A good listener, he was, but not much of a talker.

"it's either a missing person or a homicide or a suicide."

One other possibility: It's an old, shallow grave that has been unearthed either by the dog or time and weather. I lived out in the boonies for two long, long, long years (I'm a city person) and there was an old grave on our property. I avoided it at all costs. I did notice once that the grave marker said 18-- something. I don't remember the exact date. Just a thought, but I'd definitely be calling the police.

I went over to my neighbors and we called the police. They checked out the skull and took it. Thank goodness they told us that a few graves had been washed out the year before down by a major creek about a mile from here and other human bones had been recovered as well. I feel so much better now. You freepers are something else. I am glad this was an entertaining thread for some of you.
Does anyone want to buy some good frozen beef?

Obviously it was not a monkey skull.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We Have a Winner!

Feeling better now, I bet! Even if the police are wrong, it's on them now, not you.

Common sense would have solved this problem. You expect FReepers to not have fun with someone who lacks common sense?

DOn't let it make you crazy. Just suck it up and continue to FReep. Though you have been missing for a few years....
