From the Kerry interview with Diane Sawyer.
RUSH: So Diane Sawyer says, "Okay, so tomorrow night the dual for a man who says he's tired of the Bush campaign defining him." She's holding up pictures of him wind surfing, by the way. She's holding up pictures of Kerry wind surfing and Bush chopping trees and clearing brush down there in Texas, and she says, "So tomorrow night, the dual for a man who says he's tired of the Bush campaign defining him, and that even his infamous wind surfing was an act of image rebellion, is there something about a candidate who wind surfs and snowboards up against these images? So is there a symbolism here you think people are responding to?"
KERRY: You know I do those things, too; I just didn't have those photographs taken, and I love doing everything --
RUSH: Stop the tape. Now, the question here didn't even make sense to me as I read it, but here's what he's answering to. She's holding up pictures of Bush clearing brush and Kerry wind surfing and says is this a bad image for you? And what he's saying is, "Oh, I clear brush, too. I clear brush, too. I do those things, too; I just don't have those photographs taken. I just didn't have those photographs." Just like there are no photographs when you fell down the ski slope, huh? He says he's got photos. [program observer interruption] No, he doesn't have any photographs. That's it. He's cleared brush at... I don't know if he means at Bush's ranch or not, that's a good question. Where has he cleared brush? Has he cleared brush up in Idaho at the ski chalet? Has he cleared brush up at Nantucket? Has he cleared brush in Beacon Hill to move the fire hydrant? Maybe he helps the gardeners. Maybe that's what he does, I don't know, but he says he's never taken pictures of it. So here's the rest of the bite.
KERRY: -- person. I'm going to be myself, Diane. That's what's important. You know, these pictures appear because I'm not trying to appear to be somebody different. I'm not trying to fake it. I'm going out and being who I am.
SAWYER: They portrayed him as elite sports and elitism?
KERRY: They've got to go talk to a lot of the guys who enjoy doing wind surfing and the guys I go with are, you know, regular, folks. They're carpenters and electricians, guys who work on the island. If they want to have fun with it, that's fine. What matters here are the American people, not what I do in a couple of hours when I have some free time to go get some exercise.

Go get 'em girlie man.
Yikes. That school thing scares me.
As for Bush's facial expressions, I thought that contemptuous look would have been more effective if he had used it at only a few well-timed moments in the debate.
One other Kerryism I hope Bush will counter in the next few days: Kerry kept saying Iraq/Hussein was a "distraction" from getting bin Laden. Bush needs to distinguish between chasing down those who've already attacked VS. dealing with future threats. Kerry agrees with Bush that Hussein was a threat.
Looks like even the dresses were negotiated (and both ladies lost out.)
Glancing at the threads here, and elsewhere: no one won this event...people are all over the map on this one.
Really, Laura's suit is much nicer. Better fit, better design, better fabric. Teresa's suit looks like she bought it at Sears.
did you see the one time after a response POTUS winked (at I am guessing Laura).. it was a quick, "knowing" wink
My guess it is less fitted again for her girth. My second guess is that it cost at least 10 times as much as Laura's.
Both W and Lurch had campaign appearances after the debate. Note how good Bush looks; he is a campaigner, not a debater.
And Lurch and his daughter do not look real happy, do not look overjoyed about the debate, like they are having a serious conversation, as in, Lurch telling Nessa that she and her sis just have to move in the WH and be First Ladies because stepmoney pales next to Laura...hee hee...(I really do think if Lurch wins, T. will be sedated and sent off to the farm, ski lodge and beach home on a regular basis).
heheh - I wish the ladies were running for POTUS: they dang sure couldn't do any worse than we men have for the past century, or so...and would probably do a heck of a lot better job of it.
Im not enthused about a summit, unless we get to set the agenda. Item one: get over the frickin Jews, people. Theyre not going anywhere, and if they do theyre taking all of you with them. Item two: You poke the hornets nest one more time and the skies of Tehran and Riyahd will darken with 747s, which will disgorge a fleet of Jeeps. We will ride around with bullhorns and announce that all women are free to leave, with their children, so they can live in a society where they get to show some shin without having some gynophobic wanker whip them with sticks. Your choice![SNIP]
Heres the thing. Id really like to live in John Kerrys world. It seems like such a rational, sensible place, where handshakes and signatures have the power to change the face of the planet. If only the terrorists lived there as well.
Who does Zarkowi fear the most - France, summiteers, or Marines?
If the rightness of a cause is measured by the number of ones allies, would Britain have been right if the US had stayed neutral in World War Two?
When will he give up trying for the bicycle bounce?
that contemptuous look would have been more effective if he had used it at only a few well-timed moments in the debate.
Yes indeed.
Kerry kept saying Iraq/Hussein was a "distraction" from getting bin Laden. Bush needs to distinguish between chasing down those who've already attacked VS. dealing with future threats.
Help me with some knowledge if you can. Reading posts last night, some said that the Bush campaign would use those Kerryisms in commercials. Others said they weren't allowed to use them in commercials until Jan. 2005. Do you know what's what?
Put the Kerry lies up, then show the indisputable truth on campaign commercials is one way to salvage that debate.
I've heard the same contradictions...don't know which is right. I thought the "campaigns" couldn't use the footage, so the "independent groups" would put together the rebuttal commercials.
But the DNC has the "bush faces" video up on their website this morning, so I'd say Bush is free to use footage from the debates, on his website if nothing else.
She's (my daughter) livid over Kerry's debate behavior. She also thinks GWB won. :-)
I guess Hillary missed the debate...she was having dinner with the UN elite.

Why do I always have the feeling Kofi Annan is hoping people will mistake him for Nelson Mandela?
wow.. OPrah is looking marvelous.. slender. and I haven't seen her for a couple years (don't "do" TV) has she had some cosmetic suregery? don't fault her if she has..
never a rush to post back to me. sometimes I post & leave for hours -- or a day. Nice thing about the bulletin board, posting format
Oprah has the best make-up people known to mankind - the VERY best.
