There are limits to what a heart can do
There are only so many times it can love anew;
One love is destined to stand above the rest
And not diminish in spite of time's tests
One love that through one's remaining years
Will be the source of both smiles and tears
One love that will warm future memory
One love that is and was always meant to be.
I have meandered down many of life's roads
And shouldered many different kinds of loads
Some gladly, others half-hearted
And then found I was back where I started:
I was locked in futile cycles within
For without love, life cannot truly begin.
But then I wandered down life's road with you
And from the first moment, I understood this was new.
In the deepest parts of me, I felt life begin
You had broken the futile cycle within.
Perhaps it was the look in your deep eyes
Perhaps it was the glow of London's evening skies
Perhaps it was the air filled with autumn's scent
Perhaps it was all the time we spent
Talking and being close and walking side by side
And using the night as a shelter where we could hide
Where love happened, even without expression
Where love was professed, even without confession.
And when the world again was bathed in an unflattering light
We could smile, and consider the night.
Since then we have meandered down other roads
And taken on far more onerous loads
The ones I've taken on are half hearted
And make me wish we'd never parted.
For without love, futile cycles begin
But I still hold hope within.
I say it openly, and with all of myself to you:
My heart will never again love anew
You are the one love for my remaining years
You are the source of my smiles and tears
You warm my present with memories
Which surely prove our love is meant to be.
I wait to break again the futile cycle within
At the moment when again our love will begin.
Regards, Ivan

Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Read: Psalm 121
The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore. Psalm 121:8
Bible In One Year: Isaiah 26-27; Philippians 2
The 121st Psalm was a favorite of my father. The Scottish people called it "The Traveler's Psalm." Whenever a family member, a guest, or a friend was leaving on a journey, this psalm was reador more often sungat family prayers. When my father left the "old country" alone as a teenager to come to the United States, he was bidden farewell with this psalm.
Over the years, my father enjoyed many hearty days and endured others that were dark and grim. He carried this psalm's words with him into battle during World War I, and then out of it as he lay in a hospital for almost a year recovering from shrapnel wounds.
In verse 1, the psalmist looked beyond the hills to the God who made them. My father lived in the toughest section of New York City. Although he seldom saw hills, he held to the assurance that the God of the hills was the God of the dangerous streets as well.
How many "goings out" and "comings in" my father made in his 87 years! And when he went out for the last time, I believe he was singing Psalm 121 as he descended into the valley and traveled home to the other side.
How reassuring that the God of the hills and the streets goes before every believer in Christ! Haddon Robinson

Good morning all. Have a lovely day.
See you when you get back.
Gonna build a set of stairs? That sounds interesting. Is this part of a remodeling job?
Yes, I also have to install kitchen cabinets, skylites and do some plumbing.
Next job is siding a house.
Traditional Scottish Recipes
- Broken Biscuit Cake
In the old days, when biscuits were sold loose, grocers sold mixed, broken biscuits at a lower price. This recipe was a good way of using them up and as a cake which requires no cooking, it can be easily made by the kids as well as experienced cooks.
Ingredients:
One pound plain chocolate
One pound of butter or firm margarine
One pound broken mixed biscuits
Half pound chopped mixed roasted nuts
One teaspoon vanilla a essence (extract)
Method:
Melt the butter and chocolate together and stir. Mix in the well broken biscuits, nuts and essence/extract and pour into a 10" by 15" baking tin, lined with greaseproof paper (vegetable parchment). Smooth to a level top and leave it to set. Cut into fingers (literally a finger thick).
Verse for a Certain Dog
Such glorious faith as fills your limpid eyes,
Dear little friend of mine, I never knew.
All-innocent are you, and yet all-wise.
(For Heaven's sake, stop worrying that shoe!)
You look about, and all you see is fair;
This mighty globe was made for you alone.
Of all the thunderous ages, you're the heir.
(Get off the pillow with that dirty bone!)
A skeptic world you face with steady gaze;
High in young pride you hold your noble head,
Gayly you meet the rush of roaring days.
(Must you eat puppy biscuit on the bed?)
Lancelike your courage, gleaming swift and strong,
Yours the white rapture of a winged soul,
Yours is a spirit like a Mayday song.
(God help you, if you break the goldfish bowl!)
"Whatever is, is good" - your gracious creed.
You wear your joy of living like a crown.
Love lights your simplest act, your every deed.
(Drop it, I tell you- put that kitten down!)
You are God's kindliest gift of all - a friend.
Your shining loyalty unflecked by doubt,
You ask but leave to follow to the end.
(Couldn't you wait until I took you out?)
-- Dorothy Parker (1893 - 1967)
