Thanks, ping for later so I don't have to search for it. Stuff is kinda hard to find on the freeper website.

How to post a picture

The picture has to be hosted online. photobucket has free webspace you can use to host your pictures.

< (Opens the link)
img (Stands for image)
(space between img and src)
src (Stands for Source)
= (tells the computer that you are going to put in a destination)
"URL" (The url of the picture goes between quotation marks)
> (Closes the link)
put it all together and you get (with an unneeded space between the first karat and the img) < img src="http://webpages.charter.net/trussell/index.html/Hello.gif"> This is the URL for the picture of the waving stick figure.

Take the space out after the first karat (<) and you would get …

Don't you have to tell it the height and width of the graphic? Or have I just been wasting my time doing that?

Make sure you check out the FReeper HTML Bootcamp thread. Invaluable for learning those kinds of tricks:

Get a photograph.

Tape it to your monitor, pic side "in." Post a message, but leave a bunch of blank lines to accomodate the pic.

Be careful, b/c we can see out your monitor too.

Specifying the height and width of the graphic is not required. It is good practice when constructing an entire page, because the browser will build a box and reserve the space until the file is received.

If you want to scale the size of the pic, specify either the height or the width, but not both, and the aspect ratio is preserved.

Nahh -- they seem to be too preoccupied to see me.

I keep expecting them to tombstone me, but as PJ points out, their intelligence is a bit lacking.

How did you ever get to 1000+ posts?

I keep thinking about signing up over there to tweak them, but I don't know if I could keep a straight face for very long. You don't have any clout there until you have 1000 posts, do you?

No you don't, just make sure your pic is a friendly size ahead of time. I scan my family photos at an obscenely high resolution, but it would be impolite to post them here at those sizes :) Also consider the compression of the jpg's you're posting. Best Wishes.

Friendly size would be no bigger than, what, 800 pixels in any direction?

And when you post a picture, decide if you will post a real picture like this one, or an altered one.
