Can anyone help me? I have a computer here (My brothers actually) that constantly turns on and off by itself. Sometimes it doesn't even let you boot up until the 4th or 5th self-rebooting....it tries and then starts over and over again.
I remember not too long ago a virus did this and was hoping someone in here could tell me what virus did that....and how I can fix it? It won't let you get online either.....
No...he did not have a firewall and let Norton expire......I yelled at him already.... :)

sounds to me like it is more likely a power supply about to take a complete dump. I've seen them do exactly what you have described.
Oh, in more detail, to enable the built in firewall, open your connections (Start, Connect To, Show All Connections) in XP and right click on your internet connection and click on the advanced tab and check 'enable firewall.' Then go online and download a scan and remove tool. Run the tool and voila!
If the case is running hot, it will start acting weird. Computers act weird when they get hot, or when the power supply is about to crap out on you.
I don't know what cards they have except I see a cd writer, a drive (wow) and regular cd. IT has a lot of software including Ghost! I was hoping there was a file I could remove from the registry?? (If I can get her up!)

They recently added Cable to it....and one day he tells me that he couldn't even shut it down because a message said that someone was using it....so that's when I asked him if he had a firewall and asked me what that was....so CABLE and NO FIREWALL.....someone took it over. He had to pull the plug to shut it down.....I think it started there?

Assuming Windows...
Go to Start> Run and type "shutdown -r" (no " marks) and click "ok". This will prevent your machine from shutting itself down while you try to solve the real problem (the virus).
Despite what a lot of people have been telling you, the problem you describe is (98% of the time) your power supply crow barring. Not much you can do about it but replace the power supply. They aren't that expensive.

He has SPYWARE ZAPPER on it because it was the first screen that popped up when I was able to get it up.....but whether it was updated recently is anyones guess ......
You may have a faulty power supply, not a virus. If you can, get someone to let you borrow their power supply to check it out.

Not true. A lot of viruses launch from the registry and booting to a floppy will not get around the problem.
