Why has "The Savage Nation" been removed from XM Radio?

Posted on 03/11/2005 7:15:23 PM PST by Echo Talon

I just got my XM Radio hooked back up and was wondering why Michael Savage's "Savage Nation" has been removed from the lineup? I don't listen to his show often just every once in awhile.. If anyone knows whats going on let me know. Thanks

He said the other day that he wants to preserve normal radio (and not go with the latest tech.)and that he's boycotting XM because it's not regulated by the FCC. He was also looking into suing anyone giving out his show on a podcast.

OK... now I get it, Savage is cutting his own throat to make a point. What a Weirdo...

I love Savage. I discovered him after having gotten my XM radio as a gift. Living in Iowa, I NEVER would have heard him without XM.

I'm highly disappointed that he chose to make a statement by taking himself off of XM. So what if he prefers terrestrial radio? It's an EXTREMELY poor business decision to think that this technology will go away. I wonder how many other XM radio listeners he picked up that normally wouldn't have heard him?

I am fine with listening to Michael Reagan or even Bruce Williams (ASK) or Larry Elder.

Sorry, but I'll just stick with good ole Rush Limbaugh for the time being whenever I need to listen to a little talk radio. I usually agree with Rush, and he's got those legendary showman skills to boot, still using that legendary brew of intelligent conservative discussion and side-splitting, sarcastic humor that made him the champion of his field in the first place.

Savage is deranged, and his militant "borders, language, culture" screeds tend to put me into a boiling rage as well... against him.

Indeed, it is! You'll never want to go home though! The west coast of Ireland is the most beautiful, in case you consider a trip.

My cousin, who's also a Freeper lives in Canada(SweetpilotofCanuckistan) loves Savage. Actually turned me on to both Free Republic and Michael Savage. She said she wanted XM JUST to listen to Savage because she has a hard time getting a decent signal where she lives.

The way I get him in Ireland is through his home station online. The link is 910 KNEW

Fascinating. That is consistent with his support of John McCain's anti-free speech campaign law.

We'll, I think there has to be a limit. A guy like Howard Stern, who makes a living at the expense of handicapped people, is capable of anything. He'll just keep pushing the envelope into complete perversion.

Radio is like the last good thing we've got. You turn on the TV or watch a movie and it's all violence, perversion, sex, drugs etc. Can't we have one medium that's clean?

That didn't work. Well it's www.910knew.com/listenlive.html

I usually record it because and put it on my iPod for the next day because it's 11pm here when it starts. (Don't tell Savage as he might sue me)

From what I got out of it MS didn't even know he was being aired on XM? Maybe he had it pulled because it was pirated?

I have heard that rumor too. It's really hard to believe it could be true, but OTOH, I've heard it more than once.

Funny enough, I listen to Howard Stern, have done so for a long time. Also a long time listener of Rush. I like both of them because they tell it like it is. And if you listened to Howard Stern, he hardly is making fun of retarded people at their expense. Many of these people, who would have been in circus sideshows in another day, have become rich and famous thanks to Howard. He has done wonders for stutterers by giving one a big job on the show. Now you probably find his humor offensive. So do I, sometimes and I turn it off. But he ain't afraid to be politically incorrect. The worse our society gets in terms of PC, the more material Howard and Rush have to work with. For those of us stuck in American today, we need the release valves that these entertainers offer.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

I'm not buying his book. I had planned on it, but no longer, I can no lnger listen, so what's the point. He lost me, and I still think he has the best show on radio. Sure, I disagree with half of what he says, but he doesn't sound like a broken record like Rush and Hannity are starting too. Savage is such a lunatic he debates himself. I'm going to miss him, but he dumped me, is the way I look at it. I just hope Medved doesn't follow suit and dump sattelite, I understand he's with the same company.

"I'd bet it's because he's NUTS ---- and his insane rantings have grown weary! "

I've had the last straw with this guy.

The other day, he was ranting on his SUPPORT for a minimum wage. Then a day later he took calls from people bashing Rush Limbaugh.

Michael Savage is a depressing POS.

FWIW...
Michael Savage is discussing the Terri Shiavo case now. He has suggested indicting Michael Shiavo based testimony from the nurse. He compares the killing of Terri to the the crucifixion of Jesus. He is now talking with the nurse.
