As much as communications and time will allow i will try to keep this updated with our animal rescue trip to louisiana. We havent even gotten down there and most of us havent slept in 24 hours. People from all over are calling to help them, shelters need us....we have alot of work to do.
-snip-
None of these pictures have been edited at all....nothing. We took them on the run while driving or working and to get them down i left them as was. I hope yall still feel the effect of them. I dont think i have ever cried so much, but there were some good moments too. The LSU shelter where we brought the pets was a good part of the trip. what they are doing there is absolutely amazing.

This is the most incredible photo journal of a rescue I think I've ever seen. For me the story of this one group of animal refugees is like something out of a Richard Adam's novel!

The story begins with the rescuers finding this poor little guy that someone had already taken under their wing but weren''t equipped to adopt;

so Ralphie, scared and nearly starved joined the rescuers

I wouldn't think anything could live thru this

but this sweet little beagle lady did

scared but safe

and no longer alone!

Can y'all say "instant pals"

Add two more beagles

and life really is good again

hmmmmm- a new traveler is added to the mix - how is this going to work???

It's going to work just fine, thank you!

One big happy family
Okay - this is just the beginning of this great story.....click on the link above to see all of Dana's great images and read the rest of this neat adventure.

OOOhhhhhhhh...brought tears to my eyes..and warmth to my heart. Right away I went over to my two corgi's -who were taking a perfectly nice nap...curled up with them and thanked them for being my buddies:) They forgave me for waking them up (as they always do).
Thanks for these photos- and God BLESS the dear souls who took this task on themselves.

Thanks for these wonderful pictures. The cat just fit right in. This van was like a Noah's ark.
Those two dogs found together aren't beagles. Those are coon hounds. A little water and rain neve bothers these dogs!

I think one of my favorite pics of the whole story is this one of little Ralphie

playing at the rest stop ~ what a difference from the way he looked when they found him! (althought I about died when I read the part about the two beagles getting lost again at that rest stop!!)

The server is overloaded. Why I am not surprised?
We really need to get a good (temporary) Freeper server to deal with occasions like this. I wonder how much it would cost to buy and set up?
For registered Freepers only, of course.

I love this! A local radio personality from my areas daughter is in on this. She called in the other day during his show talking about what was happening. She mentioned the rabbit! She is bringing as many of the animals home with her as she can, and people are in line to adopt them!
