Wonder if they have Trap/Neuter/Return in that county? No that's not Congress, that's the policy where feral cats are neutered and returned back to the neighborhood.

Yet another reason feral cats should be exterminated.

The rabies virus can infect any mammal. Birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish can not transmit rabies.
I would like to know if mosquitoes can transmit rabies from mammal to mammal.

Do rabies shots still consist of a series of a dozen or so painful shots in the abdomen?

I wonder if they have Trap/Neuter/Return in that county? TNR doesn't prevent rabies or any other diseased animal from spreading its sickness. /how many of the 15 above people will go in for the full round of rabies shots? Rabies shots can cause a serious reaction. It's better to trap and release far far way or even humanely put down the feral animal.

LOLOL!!!! Amazingly clever. I sent your description to several cat loving (and cat hating) friends. The amusing thing is that it actually seems like it might work, as long as the cat isn't too dirty.

It's better to trap and release far far way or even humanely put down the feral animal.
I used to believe that too, but it just doesn't work. Another cat will ALWAYS move into the territory.
Every survey ever done shows that it is actually cheaper to trap a cat, spay/neuter it, give it a three-year rabies shot, and release it again. The cat will defend its (rabies-free) territory much more effectively that than an expensive animal control officer ever will.
Yes, it took me a long, long time to come around to this, but the numbers are always the same. If I thought that I could control rabies more effectively by killing feral cats, I would, in a heartbeat. A feral cat's life isn't worth one case of rabies, in either humans or livestock. It just is more effective to let the cats guard their own turf.

When a cat getrs that way, it's nothing but a flying, screeching ball of knives, teeth, and fur, definitely NOT something to get near.Pinky the cat needs a good home.

It seems to me that "fixed" feral cats that have had rabies shots would be beneficial. They eat rats and mice and other vermin. I have seen cats do useful things like kill roaches. Good pest control.

Do rabies shots still consist of a series of a dozen or so painful shots in the abdomen? No, they're given in the arm now and consist of a total of five shots.

We tried to give our cat a bath a few times -- she won! LOL. Funny how nearly every time you hear the words 'cat' and 'bath' in the same sentence, you also hear the word 'try'.
Exception to this is our Buttermilk. She is 9 years old and has just LOVED a bath from day one. Hubby bathes her and she goes limp in the water as if floating in a sauna in Hawaii!!!
