This is the space where I get to crow about the frightening precision of my Super Bowl prediction.
Where I get to remind everyone that I guaranteed the Steelers would win the title after they beat the Colts. That they were the only championship-caliber team among the final four. That they would dismantle the Broncos in Denver and waylay whomever the NFC sent at them.

I've never felt so empty being right. I feel dirty. I wish I'd been wrong. The Steelers did not deserve to win this game. They were not the better team. O'Connor was right. Seattle was the better team.
So, Paul Tagliabue, how does a team lose when it outgains an opponent by 57 yards, controls time of possession and wins the turnover battle?

Despite the calls. The bottom line is Seattle made too many mistakes. Missed FGs, horrible clock management, Hasselback's interception. And had it not been for Roethlisberger's brain flatulence on the interception, Pittsburgh likely goes up 21-3, and it's "Game Over", and nobody is talking about the officiating.
You must have been watching a different game. There was no replay that showed the ball clearly breaking the plane. If there was, the call wouldn't be an issue.
The Steelers' Antwaan Randle El had a sweet pass for a TD. One of the best looking razzle-dazzle plays in Super Bowl history.
Rich Kotite would have outcoached Holmgren yesterday.
They should have stuck with a running play and taken the FG. What was that pass, anyway?
I would also do away with the "ground can't cause a fumble" rule. If you don't have the ball put away...tough.
Part of the problem is that the NFL rules are so subject to interpretation. Was his knee down before the ball came out, let's go to the instant replay. That's garbage.

On the other hand, the replay did not show CONCLUSIVELY that the ball didn't break the plane. Thus, the call stood.
Agreed. Roethlisberger had the tip of the ball over the front edge of the end-zone line - and that's all that's needed.
A win is a win.
There is no such thing as a "good" win or a "bad" win.
There is only a win. By one half a point if possible, its still a win.
And one year from now, no one will remember anything other than the Steelers won 40.

The ground damn well can cause a fumble -- if Hasslebeck hadn't been grazed by the defender, he wouldn't have been down by contact and the fumble would have stood.

Which is akin to a beat up, rusted out, Pinto with a decent stereo.
It should have been a fumble because the receiver took three steps with no juggling of the ball. This call actually hurt the Seahawks because the ball scooted forward about 15 more yards and then out of bounds.
The whole NFL Playoff officiating stunk to high heaven this year! The Denver NE game...the blatant outright near theft of the Colts-Steelers game. Lot's of points were put on and taken off the scoreboard this post season by the zebras.
It's almost as if the league wanted a fairy tale ending this season before the ugliness of the CBA negotiations.

I don't know what game you people were watching, but the ball was clearly into the white line before he was down. Watch the stinkin replay people.
Ah yes - the Roethlisberger interception - where he himself went to tackle to seahawk who caught it, and was blatantly pushed in the back so he could not complete the tackle. Most people call it a 'clip', but it was never called. Watch the replays.
There were botched calls on BOTH teams, but it seems the Seahawk fans only look at the ones against their team to complain about losing.
The referee's blew calls, yes. But it was against both - get over it and quit bellyaching - the final score showed who won.... jeez....
Absolutely right, that's one that has gotten lost in the Seattle "whine-fest."
