When did Ben have laces stitched onto his arm? lol

Are you kidding? You think that three-inch wide patch of white is laces on a football? The whole point of the previous photo is that it proves that it is Ben's white wristband on his arm, not laces on a flesh-colored football.

If that was his arm then he would have come off the field in agony. The ball broke the plane of the goal line, not by much though.

I Tivo'ed the game in high def and have gone through the freeze frame by frame on my 60 inch Sony and I can't tell exact location of the ball on the play. That said, since the replays DON'T CLEARLY contradict the call on the field it's a TD. Sh#t happens in sports, Pittsburg came back when the Seahawks failed to close the deal. Whinning won't change anything.

I know, I know. Just trying to get the Hawks fans stirred up again. Call it "football trolling".

Holmgren lost standing in my book by his behavior yesterday. And everybody is comparing him negatively to Cowhler, because of Bill's good sportsmanship after the TERRIBLE call in the Colts game.

BUT...

Before we canonize Cowhler as the king of sportmanship, I'll remind everyone of a certain playoff game (of which I was in attendance), where a kicker missed a winning field goal, but got another chance because the Steelers were called for roughing the kicker. Cowhler's behavior after that game can only be described as, er, "unsportsmanlike". I thought he was going to have a seizure.

All coaches have their moments. Fans are even worse. As a Titans fan, I still have to put up with Bills fans trying to prove to me that it was a forward lateral.

Anyway, these ssort of things help make a good living for sports talk show hosts.

These are like UFO pictures taken in NJ. You can't really focus on the object and see if it's what you think it is.

Let's start a poll.

Which sucked worst at Super Bowl XL?

A. The officiating

B. The singing of the Star Spangled Banner or if you prefer the Star Mangled Banner

C. The Half-timne show with the Rolling Stones and the Rent-A-Groupies

Not really. If that were a football and not an arm, it doesn't appear that anyone is holding it. Good thing it's an arm, I guess.

Thanks mcg. Anybody that looks at those two photos and still insists that it is a football and not Ben's arm breaking the plane is stone blind.

You're wrong. Check out this link:

Actually your link shows the same thing, the ball just crossing the line. You are ASSUMING those two photos are of the same INSTANT -- they are not. The first photo clearly shows the defneder and Roth seperated. RIth went forward another few inches and so did the defender. They then hit shoulder to shoulder -- an action which caused Rothlesbergers arm to swing slightly forward and also to open up -- allowing as both your link and this picture show, a clear few of the ball about 1-2 inches over the goal line.

Physics are a wonderful thing. Thank you for playing.

Why are you looking at his left arm?

So, these guys [Seattle] are supposed to be super bowl champs because of an inch or two...

Unfortunately, they lost by 11 points. So this touchdown could be taken away and the Steelers would still win by 4.

Of course, then Seattle fans would complain about something else to make up the 4 points.........

Doesn't this remind you of those students in elementary school (we called them chiselers) who would argue with the teacher to get a few extra points just so they could get one letter grade higher than they actually scored?

Much to do about nothing but what does need to happen is Big Mouth Mike Holmgren needs about a $50 Grand reminder that "it's nice to taunt the NFL" about what could be construed as human error.

After all, it's just a game, and now it is - what it is '.'

As a Titans fan, I still have to put up with Bills fans trying to prove to me that it was a forward lateral.

Good example. I remember they opened the next NFL season with a computer reproduction of that play that PROVED CONCLUSIVELY it was a legal lateral (by about a yard IIRC).

Both teams stunk for the most part, Seattle stunk worse. The officiating was bad but it was equally bad both ways.

This NFL LIHOP/MIHOP Moonbat stuff is right out of DU.

"Questions?"

Yes. Why are we still talking about this?

1. Yes the officiating sucked. It sucked throughout the playoffs. Pittsburgh overcame the refs preference for Indy to get to the Super Bowl. A good team can do that.

2. Seattle lost. Maybe officiating played a part. A bigger part was the inability for Seattle to score more than 3 point in the first half, despite the fact they trounced Pittsburgh for 29 minutes. Dropped balls and missed passes played more of a roll that the officiating.

3. Seattle fans are going to express their displeasure. They lost. They're upset. However, continuing to harp on things out of their control AND blame others is not productive.

4. Pittsburgh fans should be ashamed of themselves. I rooted for Pittsburgh. I like Pittsburgh. However, I have NEVER seen a bigger group of poor winners. Makes me wish I cheered for Seattle.
