Spying on Princess Diana? (Princess Diana's Driver Reportedly Was a French Spy)
ABC News ^ | Feb. 27, 2006

A British official conducting a coroner's inquiry into Princess Diana's death reportedly thinks American and French intelligence agencies may be able to shed new light on what happened that night in August 1997 as Diana and her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, fled paparazzi.

The allegations read like something out of a James Bond novel — that U.S. secret agents had bugged Diana's cellular phone and that her driver that night in Paris was a French spy.

Lord Stevens, the British official investigating Diana's death, has reportedly subpoenaed more than 1,000 pages of transcripts from U.S. authorities, who were monitoring Diana's calls at the request of their British counterparts.

British detectives have already confirmed the princess was using her cell phone moments before the crash and have raised the possibility that her last conversation was included in the top secret file.

French authorities also may not be cooperating fully with the inquiry. Diana's driver, Henri Paul, was reportedly a freelance agent for French intelligence. But anonymous sources quoted in the British press say French officials are refusing to hand over their files.

"Neither the CIA nor French intelligence seems to be cooperating," said Ingrid Seward, the editor of Majesty Magazine.

Stevens said he still assumed that Diana's death was an accident. She was killed in a car crash in a Paris tunnel in 1997. But in a rare television interview with Britain's GMTV, he recently hinted there might be more to it than that.

"The investigation was far more complex than we previously thought," Stevens said.

The woman was remarkable for having married and dumped a simple-minded heir, and that's about it. Meanwhile she was raising at least one kid who thinks dressing up like a Nazi is funny and who is too stupid to foresee the field day the press is going to have with such an error.

That is NOT just about it. When she became the Princess of Wales and future Queen of England, had she not been a stupid, self-absorbed little slut, she could have done truly good things. There are so many ways she could have made a difference in this world. Instead, she made herself almost a caricature of the very worst our celebrity-besotted era has to offer.

"Diana was every bit as pretty as Grace Kelly."

First of all, no one was as beautiful as Grace Kelly. Second, while Pricess Diana was pretty, she was by no means breathtaking.

Third, even had Princess Diana been the most beautiful woman in the world, I don't understand the media's fascination with her. She's like the female John F. Kennedy, Jr.

Catherine Deneuve, Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly are the most beautiful women of the second half of the 20th Century.

Sorry, Diana isn't even in their ballpark. She has a nose like Rocky Marciano. If she had not been married to that taxi-earred, doofuss twit Charles, a living, walking poster boy for monarchy free democracy, she'd be just another pretty Brit. I think QEII refuses to die before he does!

Incidently, I was just reading the NNDB profile of Barbra Streisand for another thread and it made me think about Diana: with that enormous nose, Streisand is certainly not a classic beauty. But without getting too pompous it's fair to say that her popularity may have redefined what beauty is in American culture. She doesn't look like a star. Hell, she looks like any average woman you'd see at a laundromat. But coupled with the beauty that radiates from her songs, she sort of "becomes" beautiful, if you love the music.

Substitute "love of music" for love of fairy tales, and that's what went on with Diana in American popular culture.

You don't think Grace Kelly also had just a bit of help in the make-up, wardrobe, hairstyling, and perfect lighting department?

Both women are quite beautiful, and both had "it." Lots of people are/were fascinated by their looks and style. Diana and Grace came from similar backgrounds (plenty of money in the family to travel, get any kind of education, marry well, etc.), so I think Grace did much more to develop herself and her artistic talent. Diana seemed to be in the process of frittering away the goodwill and success she had achieved at the time she died.

Charles will never be king, or if he does become so, he'll be the last! He's a boob, like his Nazi sympathizing great uncle!!

Oh and BTW, if Slick Willie was spying on Diana via the CIA I'll give you one guess why a POTUS horny enough to chase a middle-aged woman around the White House to cop a few feels, would want to be aware of any of Diana's secret indiscretions.
HMMM???

Sorry - Grace set THE STANDARD - you just don't get it.

Maybe you didn't see her in her time.

She was the most beautiful woman I have EVER seen.

Charles will be king and he won't be the last. Fortunately in this world, tradition stands for something. If I were voting, he wouldn't get my vote, but he will be king.

Check out the other posts on this thread. There are other contenders for the most beautiful woman title. Although I do agree that Grace Kelly was beautiful.

My comments started by replying to a Freeper who considered Diana plain .

YOU DON'T VOTE FOR KINGS! M. Python.

Let's not have our knickers in a twist. I'm all for tradition. I say that William should be the next king somehow. Charles is such a twit, he'll bring the monarchy down, which would be a shame. Hmmm wasn't there a King Charles before this clown? And that other fellow named Oliver something-or-other?

Oh well, us yanks merely recall back to George III, who is the reason we don't have a king!
