I went nuts at Home Depot.
I needed new screwdrivers, so I bought a big set of 'em.
I needed new pliers, so I bought three of 'em.
I've always wanted a torque wrench, so I bought one.
I was going to purchase a set of four wide-whitewall radial tires, but I just haven't saved up enough for them. It's crazy how a 2-1/2" strip of white rubber can drive the price of these things through the roof! YIKES!!!
These will all be used in the restoration of my '57 Pontiac, which should be hitting the road in another month or so. It's been well over ten years since it's moved on anything other than a moving van or a trailer. Our son's last ride in the car was in the baby seat in the back. Now, he'll be able to ride up front and help navigate.
It'll still be uglier'n sin when it hits the road (primer black with a few rusty spots), but it's 100% mechanically sound. I can't wait! The best part of the car, to me, is hearing it run - twin pipes with glasspacks - MUSIC!!!
Then, I went to the grocery store and stocked up on dinners for the rest of the week. Chicken was on sale, so I have a freezer full.
I guess I spent about $300.00 yesterday that I normally wouldn't have spent.

As near as I can tell, the "Day without Immigrants" turned out to be a good day for retailers, a GREAT day for consumers who didn't have to maneuver around 3 bazillion blocking the aisles aand jabbering in Spanish . . . . . . . and it looks as though the marches served no purpose whatsoever.
I would like to know why the immigration enforcement folks sat on their hands. They had a golden opportunity to make arrests and deport some of these invaders and they did nothing . . . . . . . . is this what our tax dollars are buying us!!?? I want my money back!!
Well, I'm dirt poor, so all I could do was pay some bills -$355 - and spend $.78 on 2 stamps to mail off a few pieces of paper that say one of the evil Big Oil companies has to pay me some money every month.
About $200 on repair supplies that I collected up. Now I have to install said items :-(.
One CAN live without Mexican food. And judging by the fatsos on TV yesterday, it would be a lot healthier too. I'll bet that's the farthest some of them have walked since they sneaked into this country.
Yes, every time the illegal trespassers have one of these marches, the caption under the photos should read: A US Government Failure. Not only did they not keep the lawbreakers out, but they don't even bother to show up to arrest them when everyone knows where they are....the meatpacking plants, the vegetable growers, construction sites, New Orleans, the Mohawk Carpet Co. in GA. ICE could make a raid arresting 2,000 every day for a month and that would be a start, but no, only taxpayers have to obey the law in this country now.
I spent $25 at an integrated Taco Bell/KFC fast food joint here in Singapore. Does that count?

Can't we do some kind of NBA-type player trade with cash? Since the Puerto Ricans wouldn't be illegals (I am guessing this), we could send 100,000 Mexican illegals plus cash for 100,000 Puerto Ricans and future draft picks. Makes sense to me :-)

A simple three step process to discourage illegal employment:
Step 1: When you observe a landscaper truck or construction crew that is obviously employing illegal labor, note the number on the side of the truck and the address of the homeowner who has contracted for this work.
Step 2: Call the company and ask if they can demonstrate that they employ only legal workers and US citizens. If they cannot or will not, proceed to...
Step 3: Write a letter to the happy homeowner, to inform him that he might, in effect, be the direct employer of several illegal aliens, and may be subject to the criminal penalties that can result from employing people without requring documentation.
Given the nature of casual employment, often the workers are treated as independent sub-contractors, who are paid for the work performed, but are not employees of the company that has contracted to do the work. As a result, their ultimate employment relationship is not with the company, but with the homeowner, and it is the homeowner's responsibility to perform due diligence to ensure he is employing legal labor and that taxes are collected and paid.
Now most homeowners are will look the other way, because they are getting a good deal. I would bet dollars to donuts, though, that lot's of them don't realize what they are opening themselves up to.
And, of course, there are the various insurance issues. If you are dealing with a company that is hiring employees illegally, you can bet your bottom dollar (in fact, you are!) that those employees are not covered by his liablity insurance or workman's compensation insurance. So when a worker cleaning the gutters takes a header off the ladder and will require lifelong medical care, it falls to the homeowner to duke it out with his homeowner's insurance company over whether or not this man is covered. And unless you carry excess liability umbrella coverage, the limits are so low that the money will be exhausted quickly, anyway.
The only responsible party in these transactions is the homeowner. He has the most to lose, and is in ultimate control. Homeowners have to be conditioned to demand legal labor and proof of insurance before they will contract with any service provider. He'll pay a little more up front, but will protect himself down the road.
So we spent $2500.00

Our clearchannel station broke in on Hannity yesterday
afternoon to say traffic was backed up on the freeway
due to a rally moving from one town to another.
Our son's opposing baseball team was at least 20-30 minutes late, the ump showed up right at game time instead of before. So basically,
the participants did the same thing they've been doing since they got here: Slowing everyone else down.
Between my better half and I we spent over $500.00 dollars at the local mall and $150.00 ordering by mail yesterday.
I visited Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes (2), Giant Foods, Sports Authority, Modell's, Petsmart, Target and Michaels. They all had good shopper traffic, and each of the check-out clerks said their business appeared unaffected by the boycott. The only complaint was from a Home Depot worker who said that three co-workers didn't show up, making it hard to keep up with customer needs.
We're in suburban Philadelphia. The illegal population in our immediate area doesn't appear to be too large, but they're typically very visible doing lawn or roofing work. Our local laundromat is also full of Spanish-speaking people. I don't think too many of them can afford the housing in our area, but they are quite happy to work for the prosperous folks who live here.
Spent about $250 on needlework supplies and clothes that I certainly wasn't planning on doing beforehand. Love a good excuse to go to the yarn store!
