Dateline Arizona. 5/18/06

Liberal Activist William Rivers Pitt (35) and Truthout.com journalist Jason Leopold (35) died together in the early morning hours in what Arizona Highway Patrol and National Park Service officers at Grand Canyon National Park are calling a bizarre double suicide.

Details are still forthcoming, but according to Law Enforcement Spokespersons, Pitt and Leopold were driving a Blue 1966 Thunderbird and being pursued by as many as 12 press vehicles from various media agencies trying to get definitive comment from them about a news story involving the potential indictment of Presidential Advisor Karl Rove. During the pursuit, the ’66 Thunderbird was deliberately driven over the edge of the Grand Canyon. Eyewitness accounts are still unclear as to who was driving the vehicle.

Leopold had broken the dramatic “Rove Indictment” story on Friday May 12th and predicted that the indictment would come “Within 24 hours.” This estimate was later changed to “24 Business Hours” which was immediately replaced on Truthout.com with an article by a distinguished member of the Physics Department of U.C. Berckeley University who explained how “Business Hours” can theoretically take months to come about.

According to Hugh Bloviate of Associated Press Intl. who was in one of the pursuit vehicles, “They just swerved off of the access road, and went straight off the edge of the canyon holding their clasped hands together over their heads… It was horrible to see. I can still hear the cries of ‘Fitzmas! Fitzmas!’ coming from the car just before it went over the edge.”

An accident investigator was quoted as saying that based on the empty liquor bottles, paraphernalia, packets of meth amphetamine and loose tablets of puppy tranquilizer recovered from the wreck that drugs and alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

A statement from Truthout.com reads in part, “We regret the tragic loss of two great Liberal Warriors, and their efforts to aide in our ongoing fight against reali... I mean the oppressive Bush administration and the Neocons will be missed.”

Presidential Advisor Karl Rove’s office when reached for comment, said that Mr. Rove stands by his May 12th statement of “Bwahh-Haa-Haa-Haa!!!” and will be unavailable for further comments as he is busy working on a new alternative energy initiative involving the tubing of Liberals to extract their electrical brain wave energies.

"... new alternative energy initiative involving the tubing of Liberals to extract their electrical brain wave energies."

Can't imagine he'd get too much.
