BEIJING, July 19 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese space agency official said here on Wednesday that China would actively plan its deep space exploration over the next five years, focusing on lunar and Mars exploration.
Sun Laiyan, administrator of the China National Space Administration, said China would study the distribution and utilization of lunar resources and terrestrial planetary science as well as exploring scientific measures for supporting mankind's sustainable survival on Earth.
Key research areas will also include astronomy and solar physics, space physics and solar system exploration, micro-gravity sciences and space life science.

This is why NASA is so important.

I agree. With the exception of the Military, I don't mind spending my tax money on NASA.

Deep space exploration is extra-solar system. And the article writer seems to think that deep space exploration is lunar and martian?
The only deep space explorer that earth currently has or will have for the next five hundred years is Ozzy Osbourne. And look what deep space did to him!
LOL.
DEEEEEEP SPAAAAAAAZE! Hardly.
They could simply celebrate by putting the whole ChiCom politbureau in orbit and leave them there. That would be progress.

Probably a translation error (in some dictionaries and encyclopedias, deep space is indeed synonymous with outer space), the translator probably meant to say "outer space" as opposed to inner space (Shuttle range).

Atually NASA uses 'Deep Space' to mean out of earth orbit and such. The Deep Space Array is used to communicate with Mars probes for example.

I always though Deep space was the space outside of the solar systems where there is nothing.
