Onscreen king of kvetch Larry David just couldn't contain himself at a Martha's Vineyard parking lot last weekend when an errant shopping cart scratched his beloved BMW 530. According to Page Six, the "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Seinfeld" creator and his wife were outside a Vineyard Haven supermarket when a runaway cart made what one eyewitness said was "a little dent" in David's $75,000 car.
David proceeded to call the cops and started, says the witness, "in a golf shirt and shorts, flapping away with his arms. It was just like an episode on his show." Vineyard cops confimed that David called them but no charges were pressed. David's reps had no comment. But David doth protest too much: HBO confirmed yesterday, according to the Hollywood Reporter, that the sixth season of "Curb" will begin production as early as September, with all the principals back, and an airdate coming in 2007.
Except that when little, tubby 'George Costanza' reacted in this way --- it was funny. Watching 'Curb' is like reading a chinese fortune cookie -- you have to imagine George Costanza in those situations to appreciate the humor. Larry David is just a warped individual who needs to be institutionalized.
Good point.
I have never been to MV, let alone that end of the States...and so I don't believe there is anything I could say about how they run things there.
I only wish we could get the same consideration about Alaska.....esp the North Slope.
Sigh!

Pretty.
But I still like my '06 Charger.
Has been run over...for years.
Same thing with Nantucket.
Years ago, they were beautiful, rustic and quaint. Now the islands are lumpy with people who whine and complain and care more for their gourmet kitchens than their neighbors. Pity.
I thought he drove a Prius, not an 18MPG 530.
"I think it's declined in quality precipitously in the last couple of seasons."
That's the thing. Larry seems to get more out of control every season.
But it's still funny.
When was the last time you visited the Vineyard?
_____________
early 80's.
Jason Alexander (George) said he first thought that the "George" character was Woody Allen-like, and that's how he played it (pretty obvious the first season).
Then as he got to know Larry, he realized that "George" was actually Larry. So he did Larry for the remainder of Seinfeld, with some of his own "George" inventions.
Funny your idea of imagining Larry as "George" in Curb. I'll try that next time I watch.
"Out of control" I can handle well enough. I just think that it's not very funny anymore. It's hard to top first and second season episodes like "Porno Gil" and "The Doll."
Man, lotta changes since then!
Absolutely, Positively fully loaded, every possible option included... $72,412.
I just had a dear client move to that area. The nearest post office is 6 miles away and the nearest FedX drop-off is 60 miles away. He and his wife are going to retire there, in the shadow of a beautiful mountain and by the shores of a silvery lake.
They also don't mind the cold!!!!!
Just perfect!
sw
It's not like he needs to worry about price. Residuals from Seinfeld would be sufficient to never have to worry again.
But it's still funny.
The same can be said of Howard Dean...
I thought he only drove hybrid cars??
