Très drôle!
The craft was launched at 1423 GMT (9:23 a.m. EST) from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The Soyuz rocket and attached Fregat upper stage successfully deployed the COROT spacecraft into orbit about 50 minutes after liftoff.

Coast was making fun of this. That's too bad. French science is catching up and may have already surpassed American science. Hydrinos! N-rays! Who is laughing now?
You are quite right. For decades, the French have been excellent in the field of optics. They really do good science. American science is still strong, but it is waning comapred to other countries.
I'm an agnostic when it comes to UFOs, but I am willing to listen...
"And can I get carrion with that croissant?
My whole neighborhood has seen odd stuff around here and virtually everyone here is a pilot, so I doubt they'd misidentify a known aircraft.
The wife and I (both pilots) saw a really wierd craft of some sort a couple of years ago while driving through SW Wyoming. This was about 2:00PM local time. It looked like a gray and black hot air ballon, but it was moving sideways at about 300 knots. We were on a hill a mile or so away from it, close enough for me to see the shadow it cast on the ground. It passed between us and another ridge about 4 miles away, then disappeared into the haze. The really odd thing is we both had cameras sitting on the seat between us and neither of us even thought about taking a picture. In fact, we didn't even really say anything for about 20 minutes. It was weird.
French science is still behind American science, even with ITER based in Chadarache (spelling?). Corot is interesting, though. (But it's an ESA project, not only French).
I just finished reading the Day after Roswell. Interesting read.

Another interesting read is the whole Serpo story. There is forum that has postings here:

My cousins were driving home from their cabin, and we were driving home from our cabin right behind them (back in the 70s) There were cars stopped on the side of the freeway and people out of their cars. My cousins saw what they thought was a big lit up water tower until they realized that there were no legs holding up a huge object. They had a much better view than we did, we didn't stop, but we saw lights and an object. (My cousins are religious and very upstanding people.)
I'm not laughing, you're absolutely correct that the French are involved in cutting-edge research in physics.
The important field of particle physics will take a giant leap forward when the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), on the border between Switzerland and France, becomes operational in November, 2007. The LHC will reach seven times more energy than the most powerful particle accelerator currently in use, thus enabling scientific investigations never before possible. The French will be at the forefront of advanced research in physics for long into the future.
Count me in the 5%. I have seen UFOs.
One time was unmistakably UFOs, two other times I don't know what the objects were.
The first time there was three large ones with no wings, no noise, and traveling rather slow. They were about 300ft across about 1500ft off the ground flying in formation making turns. Then they flew off into a cloud bank and the whole bank of clouds glowed.
The other two times I saw three lights like satellites but in triangle formation moving very fast and very high in altitude like satellites.
Well, one time, at Band Camp . . .
Should be very interesting. They did a good quality scientific expose on the state of things a decade or two ago but it was more or less ignored by the MSM at the puppet masters behest. What a surprise. /sar
But, there's been lots of indications the last 6-9 months of things being more disclosed . . . what % is disinformation remains to be seen.
Dave, would you care to ping the list, please? Am really muted in my health at the moment.
Thanks for your valiant post effort.
Alas, one still needs a hazmat suit on threads on the topic hereon.
It harkens back to the days when posters on the topic were accused of being trolls trying to bring credibility problems and disrepute to FR.
Recently, the whole field has seemed to heat up considerably with better quality witnesses getting more air time and coverage and more details coming out--even about well discussed older incidents.
But let us have no illusions. I don't think the ET's are benign or really have our interests at heart at all.
Uh oh...we won't ask you what you saw.
And, I'm not looking for a fight, since I am agnostic on UFOs; just trying to apply logic.
