Some reasons why you might be better off to wait for Vista SP1 or until you buy your next new PC.

Since I downloaded Internet Explorer 7, my computer is sometimes slow, even with my cable modem.
What is the best alternative to Internet Explorer? Is it easy to download?

In the FWIW category...
I was a little surprised to see here, as in so many other publications that receive so much Microsoft ad money, a pretty strong suggestion that Mac and the new Leopard might be much better for non-gamers than Vista.
I thought the reasons to wait for Vista SP1 and to see Leopard was pretty good advice for people considering new PCs.

5. Windows XP Isn't Obsolete Exactly.
If you are a kid with money to blow and must have Vista and DirectX 10 for the new game Crysis, by all means, knock yourself out. For the rest of us, it will pay to wait (driver database, hardware issues, older favorite software incompatibilities etc).

I have never understood what is the deal with operating system upgrades. For me there is not a dimes worth of differnce from Windows 98 to Windows XP. As long as applications run, who cares. The only thing that Vista will provide soon is the ability to add a cable card to your computer so you can easily record encrypted HD content to your hard drive.

Some reasons why you might be better off to wait for Vista SP1 or until you buy your next new PC.But I just bought an expensive new Dell laptop (D820) two months ago. I love it, by the way.

It's time to get a Mac. If you're thinking of upgrading to Vista, you'll probably need a new computer. Why not get a Mac? It's simpler, more secure, and way more fun. And it works with the stuff you already have, like printers and cameras. So before you upgrade anything, you owe it to yourself to check out a Mac.
The PC guy kinda looks like Bill Gates. I love that tv ad
