Years ago I started a new job and was to finish my probationary period the day after a big union vote. The vote was to decide if we would switch to the UAW or stay in the AFL-CIO.
Oddly enough the management decided to end my probationary period one day early. (just in time for the vote) They also took me and showed me movies of UAW shops that had closed.
I was allowed to vote with the union but due to my early entry my vote was contested meaning my name went on the ballot.
There was some seriously illegal crap pulled by both the union and the company that needed not be done because I wasn't interested in UAW membership anyway.
