Plastic holds kitty litter and other fun stuff that would leak thru other material.

Currently 63% - 37% infavor of the ban.
Why didn't they have choice #3: Is this all really stupid and the government should ban itself?

The nanny state is in charge.

Just charge a dime for the damn bags and let the market decide.
I don't mind bringing my own canvas bag, but a nanny-state ban is ridiculous.

Did they airbrush out the cigarette from the hand of that Brit female prisoner?
To: dynachrome
Heck yeah, ban them! More paper mean more logging. I want to go back to logging!

"More paper mean more logging"
Reminds me of the battle over disposable diapers.
"Disposables clog landfills!" "Cotton diapers use precious clean water to wash and electrical power"
Frankly, I am glad that the diaper pail is long gone in most households.

At our current usage, we won't run out of landfill space for approx 700 years.
The idea of reusable hopping bags isn't that bag, but I really don't see what the big deal with the plastic bags is. It's like everything, a few maggots don't dispose properly, so nanny staters ban them for all of us.

No, but I would favor public beatings for those who litter and let their plastic bags blow around in the street.

Off trees and save the plastic!
To: Rightfootforward
Off trees and save the plastic! What ever is usable fodder to set the minds of the populous and bring in the political dough!
Being "progressive" means changing constantly even if it is a change back to the same ol' and then back again time and time again...
