I was looking at this bridge (intact) on Yahoo! maps this morning and thought the thing looked like the center was pushed quite a bit downstream from the nearby dam. Check this yourself here.

Later, I was at the local WFAA website and they had a slide show that included a photo made during construction of the bridge in 1967 and it was straight:

God was busy, look at the cars still on the bridge, the miracle is that all of them did not go in the water.

death toll was incredibly low considering I kept hearing that the bridge was quite full with vehicles.

Bruin66, you either forgot the /sarcasm> tag or are woefully uneducated in the history of bride collapses! For example, the silver Bridge and the Tacoma Narrows bridge.
