I was looking at this bridge (intact) on Yahoo! maps this morning and thought the thing looked like the center was pushed quite a bit downstream from the nearby dam. Check this yourself
here. Later, I was at the local WFAA website and they had a slide show that included a photo made during construction of the bridge in 1967 and it was straight:
Looking north, the Interstate 35W bridge is shown under construction July 1967, in Minneapolis. (AP Photo/Star Tribune, Kent Kobersteen)

God was busy, look at the cars still on the bridge, the miracle is that all of them did not go in the water.

death toll was incredibly low considering I kept hearing that the bridge was quite full with vehicles.
To: Hans
It was the first time in recorded history that a bridge collapsed...

The death toll is a surprise, it could have been so many more.

It was the first time in recorded history that a bridge collapsed... Bruin66, you either forgot the /sarcasm> tag or are woefully uneducated in the history of bride collapses! For example, the silver Bridge and the Tacoma Narrows bridge.
