There's high mileage, and then there's this. A 1995 Honda Civic is for sale in Atlanta with, count 'em, 939,899 miles. That's 200-plus miles a day. Every day. Including Sundays. For 12 years. It even has a CARFAX report from when the car had 907,000 miles on it. According to the seller, the car runs like new, with no leaks, no noises, no oil burning, and not even a scratch on the body. In fact, the only blemish listed is that one of the dashboard lights doesn't work, and that's only sometimes.
The car is on its ninth timing belt, ninth water pump, and fourth clutch. But the engine and transmission are original, as are the floor mats. The car even comes with records. The most incredible thing isn't the mileage, though. It's how the owner put the miles on the car: driving on business trips from Atlanta ... to Seattle ... and San Francisco. We want to know what kind of business -- or what kind of boss -- makes a guy drive across the country and back, and then some, every single month for 12 straight years.
To paraphrase The Proclaimers, if you buy this car then you can drive a million miles and you can drive a million more ...
My second car, a 92 Honda Accord has about 325,000 miles on it. Original engine, rebuilt trans at 273,000 miles.
Wow. all that driving and he didn't even have a CD player?
200K in my 94 Sentra and it still runs like new. Has an occasional episode, alt gave out about 2 yrs back.
2000 Cvis with 145,000 miles and only regular service
I have a 2001 Honda Accord EX and love it. I will drive it until it doesn’t run anymore and then buy another one.
Just turned 250K on my Ford f150. Only routine mtc. I’m shopping for a car for my 17 yr old. I told her only Japanese cars and only Ford pickups.
I’ve had
...a 76 Honda
...an 80 Honda
...an 88 Honda
We kept each one for over 10 years.
Too bad I can no longer afford them.
Remove the import taxes and you may.
109K on my 97 civic.
Import taxes? I believe a large number of these cars are actually made in America now.
Be more specific please.
Import taxes on the Japanese cars that are imported certainly would affect the prices on those that are built here but I admit that quality is probably the predominate driving force in pricing anymore. You simply pay more for better quality.
Piker... I have 44,000 miles on my 2006 Chevy PU.
I had my Ford Ranger for 11 years, put 225,000 on it and sold it to my brother when I bought the new truck. He has put another 30,000 in it.
I just traded in a 98 with 110K and got $3K for it from CarMax? Guess they knew it still had 880+K left in it.
Don't feel so bad. I had an '06 Civic coupe that was such a lemon that I traded it in at 7,000 miles. In addition to the mechanical problems, the fit and finish was astonishingly bad. I had owned Hondas before, so I was really surprised and disappointed.
I just got rid of my 1995 Subaru Legacy that had over 180,000 miles on it. But then again, I only commuted about 60 miles/day for work. I can’t imagine over 200!
I just bought a 2007 Honda Civic:-)
Superb maintenance, and the right engine, can do this.
I hope his people contact Honda about this. He could get a fat endorsement deal out of it.
We’ve had 9 Hondas since 1983. At one time we had four. My daughter just bought a CRV, does that make it ten?
