Posted on 06/19/2008 5:11:02 AM PDT by chicagolady

I was one of the 150 people at the Drake Hotel in Downtown Chicago Wednesaday night who came to hear John MC Cain speak to Illinois Hispanics.

I had e-mail in my request to attend after seeing an article in the news paper announcing this event.

This is what i received..........

We are pleased to confirm your invitation to attend the "Hispanic Voices Reception" with Republican Presidential candidate John McCain. The event will take place on June 18, 2008, at The Drake Hotel, 140 E. Walton Place, Chicago, Illinois, in the Drake Room.

A volunteer will call you in the next couple of days to give you a "unique event ID number." You will need that number along with photo identification at the registration table in order to access the event. Doors open for the event promptly at 7:30 PM. Please come early, though, to get through security.

During the reception, Senator John McCain will be fielding questions from the audience. We ask that you be respectful during the question-and-answer session even if your opinions differ from those being shared. Please dress in business-casual attire.

You may park at The Drake Hotel for $30; valet parking is also provided at the hotel for $45. If you are traveling from the suburbs, limited seating is available on the bus leaving from Aurora. To reserve a seat for the bus, please contact us on our hotline number or by e-mail. For your own directions to the event, please click here.

"Hispanic Voices Reception"

The Drake Room The Drake Hotel 140 E Walton Place Chicago, IL 60611

You are invited to hear John McCain address Illinois Hispanics!

If you have any questions, please contact: Gabriela Wyatt or Julie Brady at McVolunteers@yahoo.com Or call the event hot-line (630) 801-0043 _________________________________________________________

.....Personally as an Original Minuteman who attended the Historic Minuteman Border Watch in 2005 on the Arizona/ Mexico border and returnig 2 more times for a tour of duty along our southern Border, I was especially looking forward to what John Mc Cain would say about illegal immigration.

This was a NO MEDIA ALLOWED EVENT! That is why I am reporting back to you, all of you folks who have fought so hard with your phone calls to Washington D.C. last summer, shutting down the Washington DC switch board and defeating the AMNESTY BILL. I am reporting back to you those of you who work tirelessly in your local cities and towns trying to get some public elected official to care and enforce the rule of law.

I was told by my friend and fellow Hispanic Marianne Davies who is on the board of "You Don't Speak for Me" that John Mc Cain has been going across the country having "PRIVATE" meetings with Hispanics.

Although the inviation said we would be able to ask questions, that "question " time with John Mc Cain never happened. That was ok with me, I never had the intention of asking a question, I knew exactly the kind of open borders crowd I was with.

John Mc Cain's favorite words of the evening were Comprehensive Immigration Reform. But he started out first of all saying if he is gonna win the Presidential election he will need the support of the Latino community.

He said " My state has been enriched by the Hispanic culture in Arizona."

Then John MC Cain asked a question "Did you know this? I bet some of you did not know that Spanish was spoken in Arizona before English" ...Loud cheers from the audience. (Ok John Mc Cain What is your AZATLAN POINT?)

Then he said " I want to have some straight talk about our relationship with Mexico, our closest neighbor and dearest friend" He talked about the Mexican President fighting the drug cartels.

Then John Mc Cain aid the exact thing I came to hear, he said "I was proud to work for Comprehensive Immigration Reform and If I am elected President I assure you that in 2009 I will ask Congress to pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform." (The crowd goes wild)"It is a Federal Responsibility" he said and continued " we also need a temporary guest worker program"

He then told a story about a day laborer who got picked up this morning, worked all day and then never got paid...We have no Federal Policy, we cannot allow this to happen, he said, He repeated I assure you that I will work for Comprehensive Immigration Reform.

John McCain talked about a debate he was in about enforcing the law and he says that the "other side had a lot of "Rhetoric" "you know what I am talking about!" he said.

I guess the most telling event of the evening was a certain person who was in the room. From my own account he is the God Father of the massive illegal alien movement in Illinois. He is a Democrat and part of the HDO, Martin Sandoval - serves on a Mexican government advisory council. In fact, you can see his name on this list of their advisors:

www.ime.gob.mx/ccime/directorios/dir_ccime_06_09.htm

Exactly which country is he representing at this rally for John Mc Cain?

Martin Sandoval, Illinois senator, wants to represent Mexicans too Martin Sandoval is a state Senator from Illinois. He's also running for a seat on Mexico's "Institute for Mexicans Abroad" advisory council: Sandoval would be the first elected official in the U.S. to serve on the advisory council. That raises the peculiar prospect of the Cicero Democrat offering policy advice in an official capacity to Mexican Cabinet members while creating laws in Illinois...

As it turns out, no law or rule prohibits it, in Mexico or in Illinois. Mexican officials call it an honorary position...

... "I see no conflict at any point. There are always people who will have questions," [Sandoval] said. "I have looked at the four corners of this. I see upside all over the place."

Sandoval said his participation is especially logical because a large share of his constituents were born in Mexico. More than 42 percent of Sandoval's Senate district is foreign-born, the second-highest rate in the state...

NOW we see what kind of folks are interested in getting John Mc Cain in office.

A number of years ago, McCain supported a bill that would have effectively banned gun shows.

Lord help us all! I was MORE interested in John Mc Cain reaching out to me as a CONSERVATIVE! I feel like I have been kicked to the curb.

Welcome to the club. John McCain parachutes in here, long enough to be able to tell everyone he is from a border state, then catches the next flight out. He never hesitates to tell those of us who live on the border that we don't know what we're talking about, when it comes to border issues.

They (i.e. supply) are coming here for jobs (i.e. demand). It is a pure and simple rule of economics: Stop the demand, and you will stop the supply. If only it were that simple, meandog. In reality, it's much more sinister than that. In Indianapolis, as recently as 6 years ago, there were American drywallers, roofers, painters, etc. working here. That is not the case now. A walk through construction sites of new homes and businesses will leave you wondering when you left America and landed in a foreign land. Americans are being DISPLACED from their jobs. It isn't that these are jobs "Americans won't do" as they were doing them until very recently! A brother who owns a successful painting company is now facing hard times because his competitors (many of them his friends) started using illegal alien laborers over the last three years. My brother refuses to do this and he can't bid jobs nearly as cheaply as they can, so his contracts - contracts he has had for 10 years and more - are being given to others. American workers who obey the law are being punished and made to face unfair competition simply BECAUSE they follow the law. McCain wants to secure the borders; he has stated that time and again (which is different than anything you'll ever hear from the Democrats) Both Dems and Reps have stated that they want to "secure the borders," but neither have any intention of doing so, IMO, or if they do, they intend to do it ONLY AFTER granting amnesty to the 30 million illegals already here (and their extended families, as well) in the hopes that they can sway more voters over to their side (not America's side, just THEIR side) in the future. But what you don't hear is anyone (GOP or Dems) ACTUALLY (though they do talk about it) going after the "demanders," and therefore the root of the drive for amnesty, BECAUSE they are the money conduits (Walmart, Kmart, Swift, Armor, Del Monte, Green Giant, General Mills, Golden Corral, Holiday Inn, Ramada Inn, small business owners and farmers, unions and corporations, ad infinitum that supply campaigns and keep politicians in power). When politicians do discuss taking on the "demanders," as many have, they are faced with unbelievable opposition and demonization from fellow Republicans (RINOs, like McCain), Dems, Chambers of Commerce, trade associations, ethnocentric groups like LaRaza, Maldef, etc. They are excoriated and villified publicly, all with the help, most usually, of an unmerciful, pro-amnesty news media.

Kid, what do you expect? Are we supposed to love Mexico even though they encourage their own citizens to venture el norte illegally so they don’t have to take care of them or address the corruption that exists there; the country that calls us xenophobic, racist, bigots merely because we want our laws obeyed and enforced; the country that is constantly meddling in US politics via their Mexican consuls?

Why did McCain have to acknowledge Hispanic men and women have served and died for our country? Everyone knows that, yet he felt it important to point it out in this closed door meeting. Why? Because he’s pandering to the RACIAL BIASES he expected to exist in that room, and he wasn’t disappointed. Everyone should find that shameful, IMO. AMERICAN men and women have served and died for this country and they should all be honored at all times without compartmentalizing their honorable deeds to pat one race or ethnicity on the back to the exclusion of all others. It’s quite sickening if you ask me.

"My condolences for your kitty."

Thanks, but it was a while back and a second has passed since. I still have one left and she's got a lot of life left in her. :^)

I haven't taken the time to work on that profile page since I first set it up, so thanks also for reminding me...

I don’t believe the issue is Hispanics, the problem is ILLEGALS, ILLEGAL EMPLOYERS, the CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, and other SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS. Since the ILLEGALS’ infamous L.A. march displaying their foreign flags demanding their rights United States citizens are distrustful of any organized protest demanding anything. The situation will remain this way until our National Borders are secured and our Immigration Laws are Enforced. Our Elitist Politicians at the demand of their Elitist Political Contributors, Chamber of Commerce, and other Special Interest Groups will not allow the problem to be solved for fear of losing a dollar.

Just follow the money my friend. The “political contributors” will get their “cheap labor” and not have to furnish any “benefits” because all the “benefits” for the ILLEGALS will be furnished by the taxpayers enforced and implemented by “our politicians” and their “men”(see Johnny Satan)!!

The point is not if they are “good or hardworking people”, the point being they are here illegally! They do drive down our wages and take from the United States treasury for the benefit of the very few(ILLEGAL EMPLOYERS see ROBERT CAMP) who privatize the profits for themselves at the expense of the vast majority.

I couldn’t agree with you more, lccat, the problem is not Hispanics - it’s illegal aliens who come from all around the world, unscrupulous employers, a government that condones law-breaking because those who can give them large contributions can make an extra buck, and special interest groups whose very existence depend on keeping a large “victimized” community to coddle and keep angry.

I completely agree with your post in its entirety.

Having said all of that and pointing out that the problem is NOT Hispanics, I must also point out that anyone who speaks out against illegal immigration is IMMEDIATELY accused of being racist against “brown-skinned Hispanics/Latinos” by....not illegal alien Chinese, Russians, Africans, Korean, etc.....but by Hispanics/Latinos. It isn’t that I am “against” Hispanics, it’s that they are always the ones to get in my face, call me a racist simply because I want our laws enforced and our borders closed, while they demand that our laws continue to be ignored for the sake of THEIR own kind. Racism is definitely a part of this issue - it just happens to exist in those groups, the most vocal of which are Hispanic/Latino, who are calling everyone else a racist.

McCain ... betrayed the Republican Party for failing to support both Frist and Bush in orchestrating the Gang of Fourteen.

Support Bush? The screwball "Mission Accomplished" idiot that is REALLY the traitor destroying the Republican party because he (as the case with his "Read My Lips" old man before him who somehow was able to pull a stalemate out of overwelming victory) is the nincompoop that cannot figure out how to win a war against a third-rate country. I wouldn't support Bush even if his Crawford ranch was being taken over by Mexican MS-13 youth gangs and he found himself having to pay extortion money just to live in one of the barns.
