Police: Women used high heels as weapon
The Island Packet ^ | 7/7/08 | Staff report

Posted on 07/07/2008 4:55:05 PM PDT by SquirrelKing

An argument at a south Hilton Head Island nightclub spilled over to a north-island all-night breakfast restaurant, where a group of up to 15 women fought, some using their high heels as weapons, according to a Beaufort County sheriff’s report released today.

The fight occurred just after 5 a.m. Saturday in the parking of Huddle House, 40 Palmetto Parkway. Several of the women had been in an argument earlier in the evening at Club Life, 81 Pope Ave., the report stated.

When officers arrived, the people involved in the fight were uncooperative with the deputies and left the area, authorities said. Over the next several hours, they called officers to tell their side of the story.

A few of the women were injured, mostly receiving bruises and scratches. One had what appeared to be bite marks on her abdomen.

No charges were filed.

Waffle House has already been burned by this sort of thing. In that case, a crowd gathered at the Waffle House after their club shut down for the night.

I passed by that site on the way to work and wondered why the deputies were blocking the road that morning.

That section of road is now named for Deputy Whitfield.

There is an ancient 78 record I wish I could get a copy of, or at least could locate the words. The song was “The Morning After the Night Before” (...gee, whiz, but don’t your head feel sore. Your shoes are on the hatrack and your clothes are on the floor, Oo oh the morning after the night before.)

One verse went something like, “The women too will be just as bad when they get women’s rights. They’ll all go out with the girls about six out of seven nights. ‘Let’s drink’ they’ll say, in a reckless way, as each one pours her own she’ll say ...” My memory fails here...

This incident reminds me of that song. I sure wish I could find it again...

How on earth can she actually stand up in those?

I imagine they’re real somewhere. Just think how many high heels are practical, anyway? Let’s have a toast.

Are you thinking of the Shelley Berman routine?

I don’t know but she could lean on me at any time.

Lean on me, spank me, make me write bad checks....

Thanks for the try, but no. The words I printed in my post above are pretty close to the song. That Berman song isn’t the one. Again, thanks.

I suspect that the 78 I’m looking for was made in the 20’s, but it may have been in the 30’s. My mom and dad had it, and I probably wore the groove wider in it playing it as much as I did when I was a teen! ... on the old Victrola, of course.

I’ll join you in the toast. While we’re tipping the glass, let’s try to figure out how that one gal got “bite marks on her abdomen”! That has to be a real trick in any kind of a fight!

I think you’re right!

LOL

How the heck you accomplish that feat, though, is somewhat beyond me. It hasn’t been in my repertoire, either in fighting or love-making!

Wrestling, whether friendly or not could get one into that position...let’s ponder that for a mo.

THAT’S IT!

WOW!

I have done internet searches for that several times with no success! What did you do to find it? It might help me in the future.

Thank you so very much!

Internet ferreting is a hobby of mine :) It wasn’t showing up in any of the lyric search engines I looked at,thinking it was a fifties novelty song. When you mentioned the twenties, I went straight to searching vintage sheet music, as that was the big moneymaker for music companies of the time.

Now, I wonder why the sheet music is only “partial”!

I shouldn’t and won’t complain, though the “women will be just as bad” verse, and the chorus is really too good to miss. I’ll have to listen to it later on, but time for me to run now. I think that last verse is “The women too will be just as bad when they get women’s rights. They’ll prowl about with girls about six out of seven nights. ‘Let’s drink’ they’ll say, in a reckless way, as each one pours her own she’ll say, her sorrow is amiss ... “ darn, I was on a roll and though I might be able to catch the whole verse, but no...
