Maybe Rush should just buy you paper and show you how to make a profit large enough to get better editors. "

Maybe the Rush list would like to chime in on this one?

LOL!
He deserves $100 Million a year, but he’s trying to do his duty, and save America, so he has accepted this pay cut.

Rush is selling a product. He has the right to set the price of his product based on what the market is willing to pay.
It’s obvious that’s what the people who gave him the contract think he’s worth. Case closed.

If you read all the comments it's clear the majority feels that, even if not Rush fans, he's earned the money by the fact that his employer is willing to pay it, Capitalism at work The naysayers almost completely fixate on his opinions and the need for a Fairness Doctrine to take him off the air.
These people will be in charge of all three branches of government by 2011. The America they will create will be a frightening place for those interested in preserving economic and political liberty.

Palm Beach Post To Cut 300 Jobs
Wed Jun 25, 2008 at 11:40:04 AM
It’s been a long time coming, but Palm Beach Post publisher Doug Franklin handed down the bad news today (thanks to Pulp readers for posting it). Bottom line:
— 300 jobs will be cut company-wide.
— 130 newsroom jobs will be cut.
— Buyouts are being offered to employees with at least five years vested in the pension plan.

RUSH: This is so funny. Last Friday, the Palm Beach Post, they have a -- oh, guess what? The Palm Beach Post today on their website, on their editorial page is running one of their talk back features: "Is Rush Limbaugh Worth It?" Is Rush worth, whatever, $50 million a year, is what they say. And of course, this is designed to get hits, which we're going to do. We're going to generate hits for them. And most of the responses when I checked it this morning were in my favor. They had to post the negative responses four and five times each to balance it out. Then the last Friday, they've got this gossip columnist down here names Jose Lambiet, and Jose ran a piece that ran something like this: Rush Limbaugh known for his intense or something, dislike for illegal Mexican immigrants, nevertheless went to a Mexican restaurant. Now, would somebody explain to me what does opposing illegal immigrants from Mexico or anywhere have to do with going into Mexican restaurant?
The New York Daily News picked up the blurb today. It's funny! I'm sitting here, I'm laughing myself silly. "Rush Limbaugh, noted for opposing illegal immigrants, nevertheless went to a Mexican restaurant with his gal pal, Kathryn Rogers," and they quote what the bill was and the tip that I left.
And I'm thinking, you people at the Palm Beach Post, just like I told CNBC the other day, if you don't get your act together over there and start reporting on this stuff accurately, I'm going to buy your paper after I buy CNBC, and I'm going to shut it down, too, and this is after I put in an offer on the Pittsburgh Steelers, which is apparently up for sale here. Well, that's the wrong way to describe it, what's going on. I happen to be privy to some of the inside details on that, but I'm not going to talk about it, I'm not going to talk about it, the Steelers, no, not going to talk about it. But anyway, the comments on the Palm Beach Post editorial page website, the opinion, "Is Rush Limbaugh Worth It?" "He should be in jail for violating drug laws," you know, this kind of stuff, but most of them are very favorable. They reflect a very enlightened understanding of markets. What do you mean worth it? Maybe they use the word deserve, I'm not sure, "Does Rush Limbaugh Deserve 50," and of course most of them say, "Hey, if somebody is willing to pay it, yeah."
Snerdley says they ought to name a park after me down there. I am the most prominent person in this community, and I am treated the way I am. I'm used to it. These are a bunch of commie libs at that newspaper, they just had to lay off 140 people, the Obama campaign staff here in Palm Beach County just suffered major layoffs. (cont.)

If we listeners are buying the products advertised on Rush’s show, we are indirectly paying for Rush. At those rates (with the good products he advertises also coming to us in the exchange) I’d say we’re getting a heck of a bargain! Now, do ya suppose we can get Rush to do more to get McCain elected instead of trashing him regularly and helping the empty suit to get elected by default?

Deserve is a loaded word. Rush earns an honest living which is more than I can say for most in the media or politics.
To: dynachrome
Since when has ‘deserve’ ever had anything to do with one’s earning capacity?
But since the question was asked... He’s worth ten times what they’re paying Oprah, and not a red-cent less.

Rush Limbaugh deserves to be paid what his employers think he deserves to be paid. He has weathered the harassment of his political enemies and has come out stronger than ever. It has to gall the dinosaur media, as represented by the Palm Beach Post, to be thrust to the sidelines as Limbaugh continues to thrive. “He longest laughs who laughs the last.”

Wouldn't it be great if someone like Rush were to buy one of these financially distressed big-city newspapers and completely redesign it to be the same as his program. Just imagine a paper that was going broke suddenly making money, simply because it abandoned the liberal line and began to provide not what their political genes dictate, but rather what those who would buy a newspaper if it provided what they seek.
Of course, it's probably too late. Newspapers are quite possibly a product whose time has come and gone. But if anyone could pull it off, Rush is the man!

Everytime I do a sale or go on an interview, I creatively beg by encouragement and technique, the person to buy my product or hire me. Every time I write an article, I'm pleading with people to read "the other side" of the matter. When one does this stuff for free, one also doesn't especially care about the end result. Rush is one heck of a salesman; he does care about the end result. And would like to see more of his thoughts, sold to Americans, and around the world. He does a fantastic job of packaging his product, and marketing as well.
His pitch is superb. And obviously, he wouldn't be paid as he is, if those who "contract" him, weren't also majorly benefitting.
The skillful art of negotiation is an exciting dance of begging, giving, but knowing facts is paramount; but of itself, not necessarily a "selling" proposal. One must have a passion to market any idea or concept or product successfully. Part of this involves "begging" the ears, if not also time, of potential interested "others." ;>

The when all his lies and bull%$#^ will be exposed. Bye Bye Rush Limpbaugh Al Franken's comment portrays the very essence of the infantile mentality of liberals. He couldn't compete in the arena of ideas against Rush, and so like a crybaby 5-year-old on the playground who nobody will choose for their dodgeball team, he cries to his big bad daddy government to sic the oxymoronic "Fairness Doctrine" on the radio industry. Sorry, Al, Rush generates enough revenue for Clear Channel Communications that he is very clearly worth every penny they are willing to pay him. Unlike you and Air America, he doesn't have to raid the coffers of childrens' charities to make his staff's payroll.

Rush does not take any salary from his employer. He has said in the past he takes none. His whole compensation package is based on a percentage of the advertising money he brings in and the products he sells on his show.
he reserves so many minutes out of each hour and those advertisers that use him as a spokesman pay additional monies for his services.
So he is not paid like most entertainers or celebrities.
It's like a movie actor who takes no salary but gets a back-end deal of a percentage of the movie.
Rush is successful and devised a compensation package that works for him. His total compensation in his new contraxct could actually be more than the $400 Million that was announced.
To: dynachrome
Someone paid it, so yes he is. Now the scribes at the fishwrap are definitely overpaid, for now.
