FRGC – Tuesday – SNUBBIES!!!!

Today I am going to bring up the subject of the great and small snubby. Although , the snubby comes in a variety of calibers, all the way from 22 Short up to the S&W 500 Mag, and are fairly large for a snubby. The big bore snubbies do provide compact, outright raw power, and any close encounter with critters that bite and scratch would be well defended against with one of these. Snubbies can also be attributed to the small compact autos, all the way up to an including the Colt Officers size and smaller.

My favorite is also a big bore. A 3-inch 625 in 45 ACP, this gem came to me by way of a trade a few years back. As accurate as any of my 1911’s, it sports some Innovative Weaponry night-sights, Pachmayr Compac grips, is ‘fairly’ concealable under my coat during the winter, and packs the 45 punch.

I also like the k-frame snubbies too. The Mdl 64 in 2 inch is the Mdl 10 in stainless. Fixed sight guns are always a problem, especially if your rounds don’t hit where the sights aim. This Mdl 64 hits an inch high with a 6 o’clock hold with standard 158 LSWC and dead on to point of aim with 129 gr Hydra-Shoks. It is one of the most accurate snubs I have had.

One that I haven’t shot yet, but have high hopes is this S&W Mdl 13 in 3-inch. The ‘FBI’ model and the last revolver issued by the FBI. It also has probably one of the smoothest, lightest, FACTORY, DA triggers I have owned.

Did I mention snubby autios? How about the EMP from Springfield Armory. Now this is as compact a 1911 as it gets. And in 9mm. We can’t keep these on the shelf, one, they are hard to get, and two, they fly out the door when we do get one.

Ok, so there are the lightweight J-Frame size S&W’s and Taurus, Charter Arms, Colt, etc. I hope that you all would contribute your favorites.

Given that statement, here is my current carry snubby..... Well sorta. Notice the custom stippling on the grip and the mag extensions.

My wife's 642. Picture was by the gustom shop we got it from. It's had an action job, lightened trigger and chamfered cylinders, in addition to the really sweet Hogue Rosewood finger grips. I feel great knowing that she has this with her, and isn't afraid to use it.

My 'snubbie' of preference was a Charter Arms BullDog Pug in stainless:

Honestly it was a little big to be called a 'snubbie' IMO. I had the hammer bobbed and some trigger work done on it. Also had it MagNaPorted. That may not have been the smartest of moves. I like the .44 spec both for power and accuracy.
I've also carried airweights and bobbed chiefs at one time or another. Both good guns with years of dependability behind them.
I guess somewhere in here is where the lines blur between anubbies & pocket pistols...:)

Where in CA? I was born in Riverside County, and grew up in Orange County.

I'm in Bakersfield, which is in Kern County and is nearly "shall issue" for ccw's. BTW, the PM9 is a realy neat little gun. Mine fits my pockets. My G26 does not.

We had a Special ORder for one of the SP101’s come in, but I haven’t talked to the guy to find out about it. Ammo is really pricey

Itty - bitties:

I have one other one that's occasionally found in my pocket, but it's classified. :)
