HAPPY 50th,
PADDINGTON!!Just poking my nose in to say "Hi", then it's back to that w-o-r-k thing that's always lurking about.
Threw a dencently-sized party for my wife's 11th 29th birthday, yesterday afternoon. This was one of THE milestones, so I HAD to make it a substantial event.
We had more than three dozen guests, and most stayed for at least two hours socializing and noshing on my spread of victuals; everything from fresh shrimp with pineapple salsa, to cream cheese chili dip with corn chips, fresh fruit and veggie trays, cheese & crackers, and -- of course -- chocolate filled chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting garnished with a chocolate rose bouquet.
My Mother put on a pretty good deal for my brother's 40th, this year, and I took the family on the road to show up for that, so there was an established "floor" for the expected magnitude of this event. I think I succeeded in surpassing it. I know I exceeded my wife's expectations, so I should be good for another ten years, now.
My only problem going forward will be saving enough money in this dismal economy to do something bigger/better for her 50th. LOL!

I am replacing a bad section of roof over my deck next to my fish pond. I took off the shingles and removed the old plywood. Then I cut out and a new piece and painted it before I put it up. Now I am waiting for the paint to dry. I chose to come in and Freep rather than watch the paint dry. I have at least some of my priorites right.

Meh. I think I’ll just stay where I am for now, thanks.
My sister should come to visit me, though.... ;o])

Some days, watching paint dry is a good thing. You could always alternate with watching grass grow.
Good luck on your roofing job.

One of the highlights of the party was that a new neighbor of our came over bearing a
gift from Trinitas Cellars. We'll be waiting until some time in February before we sample it though...
...we're expecting the arrival of another baby girl!

Thanks. With our history, we had several anxious weeks of watching blood test results, and hardly daring to think about preparing for the arrival of a newborn. But, the numbers keep coming back good, and we’ve come far enough, now, that we were able to breath a sigh of releif, and legitimately, earnestly entertain the expectation of another daughter.
