Boston Jews abandon Obama
My Family | 9/21/08 | Vanity

Posted on 09/21/2008 4:30:30 PM PDT by pabianice

DISCLAIMER: the following is based upon a large birthday party in Boston for my cousin. All of us are Jewish. There were way more than 20 of us there, satisfying the requirement of the central limit theorem for statistical reliability. This took place in Boston, the East Coast capital of lunatic liberalism. All comments and conclusions are mine.

My wife and I were at a large birthday party last night in Boston for a cousin. The talk soon turned to politics. As a conservative Jew I have become accustomed to hearing the worst sort of lies about McCain and Palin, many unrepeatable in public or to children. By the same token, comments from my family about Obama started the season as almost worshipful; Obama was the Chosen One to lead Liberalism from the wilderness while banishing the evil Bushies and their minions. What a surprise last night.

There remained one staunch Obama supporter in the group of us cousins and close friends. She will hear no complaint about Obama and says, in a loud voice, that Bush is Worse than Hitler. (How an educated Jew can say that mystifies me and tells me just how far has fallen Reform Jewery in its education, ability to think, and sense of reality). But the rest of the group was a surprise. "Jennie," a woman who had been at the forefront of the anti-U.S. movement in the late 60s and had angrily taken-down from her parents mantle my picture in Navy uniform, now confided in me that she could never vote for Obama, 'a clear racist.' She, a former fervent anti-gun agitator, astounded me with her telling, in a soft voice so as not be be overheard, that she had become an NRA member, had received her LTC, and packed a Beretta .32 in her purse nowadays. That gave me the opportunity to discuss the relative merits of the AMT Backup .380 I will not visit Boston without and that was snug in my pocket holster at the moment. I was just recovering from that conversation when a much older aunt told me that her Jewish friends in Florida had turned away from Obama, his crazy minister, his Muslim friends, and his saying that Jerusalem had to be "divided" with the homicidal Palestinians. Obama is going to have a very bad Jewish day in Florida on November 5. Then another cousin -- a lawyer and CPA -- and I talked about business, and he went on at some length about how clueless Obama and Biden are about how to help business. He was perplexed at their ignorance and socialist leanings. Two other female cousins said they couldn't support McCain but were writing-in Hillary because they couldn't vote for Obama. Still another cousin said Obama is "an empty suit" and that she will not vote for him. She may stay home but she won't vote for Obama. A cousin in from Berkeley, CA, also said she couldn't support Obama and his crypto anti-Semitism and didn't know who'd she vote for. An elderly cousin said that Obama's refusal to actually lay-out any potential policies left her confused. Finally, another older cousin told me privately that Obama and his advisers just plain scare him.

This is an unscientific but highly interesting sample of Boston Jews who should be Obama's biggest supporters. They aren't.

I suspect the way the sample was selected may not have been random.

And now from the Irish Catholic Veteran community on FR. There may be one mutant somewhere in my extended family but McCain will be getting about 100 votes from the extended clan.

I'm glad to hear some of our fellow Israel supporters are joining us. :-}

This is great news. It is long overdue that all those of the Jewish faith come on over to the party that has stood by Israel unwaveringly and will never allow a partition of Jerusalem.

Posted this comment on another thread about a conversation I had last night with a friend in South America. Hope you don't mind the double post but does run in sync with what your saying.

POST:

Friend of mine called last night from down in South America where he owns a large cattle ranch.
He has a vacation home in Montauk, New York and belongs to several different Jewish groups in that area.

When we discussed politic’s this staunch Democrat became livid that Palin had been disinvited.

He said that this year he and most of his mainly Democrat friends would be voting for McCain because he could not stomach the thought of of a radical inexperienced candidate like 0bama sitting as POTUS.

BTW: his wife has never voted for a Republican but this year she is supporting McCain Palin.

The poll's scare me but maybe many folks are like him and just doing the Bradley Affect.

re: Palestinians... there is only one solution, and I have been advocating that for many years: Buy them an Island. They have proven they are not good neighbors (nice way of putting it) and nobody wants them so lets put them somewhere nice and quiet and isolated where it will be harder for them to cause harm to the rest of the world. I think its a great idea.

Did anybody discuss the “uninviting” of Palin at the anti-Ahmadinejad rally in NYC?

A conservative is a liberal that’s been mugged.

I hope people go to the polls and vote for somebody though, since it appears Obama for America and ACORN are registering people without them knowing it and stealing their identity...ie, you may be on record voting for Obama even if you don’t go to the polls.

I have a few Jewish friends who usually vote democrat. (I could never understand this, but anyways..)

This year each and every one has either indicated that they are backing McCain.

As one friend explained, a Jew voting for B. Hussein Obama is about as smart as a chicken voting for Col. Sanders.

I will tell you something, here where i live, somewhere in Quebec, we have a strong Jewish community...and without a doubt, my relatives (mixture of Liberals and conservatives)if they were able to vote in the USA the trend would be towards McCain - This doesn't mean much, but maybe, just maybe some Jews might see the light (not the rabid Liberal ones) but the more moderates (if they exist)

But we could never understand why Jews vote the way they do...Just don't get it????

I wonder how many American Jews looking here on FR are undecided, would be curious....

:::::::::::::
There must obviously be a wide range of opinion and strength in the Jewish community at large. They were probably too embarassed to discuss it....I would be if I were a Jew.

Can you tell us whether everyone voted for Kerry and Gore in 2004, and 2000? That would be interesting to know.

The first statement show a well thought out reasoned reason not to vote for nObama and then a tosser to make it sound like a racial thing. The Brady Effect is in no way "like" the gentleman quoted. I do not want to be combative but I want to see if you understand that what your friend said is not related to the BE and should stand alone as a good talking point.

Pabiance, thanks for the encouraging anecdote. I too live in the People's Republic of Massachusetts, and I there are more McCain-Palin supporters up here than people might think. Not enough to move the state into the red column on November 4th, but...there are some.

If you see this bumpersticker on Rt. 128, give me a honk and a wave (with an open hand facing out, of course, so I can tell the difference from the other kind...:)

And by the way...thanks for your service!

Mazel Tov! There is hope for my Jewish Brothers and Sisters.

I really get mad when I hear people make the Bush - Hitler compairson. Bush had guts to prevent another Hitler. Getting rid of Hussien freed 75,000,000 Iraqi’s.

Maybe freedom was not right for them but he got rid of a Cancer.

If your ever in DC. Take a few hours and visit the Holocaust Museum. You will learn that had the US and the world delt with Hitler in 1938 the the world would have been a much better place today.

Iran is a festering sore. It needs to be resolved or another Hitler is waiting to destroy the world.
