What you say is true, of course.

But beware of waiting too long.

Where do patriots draw the line in the sand?

What signals the tipping point?

I'm thinking about getting 2 more 10-round magazines, and 3 more 20 round magazines. But carring that many clips in addition to the rifle, might slow you down.

LOL! All I can tell you is that you'll definitely feel the difference between humping .223 and .308. Can't have too many mags, IMHO, but you don't have to carry them all with you at the same time.

Remember the lobby shootout in The Matrix? I've always wondered how Neo managed to carry that much ammo without a hernia...

“Armalites are the hondas of the CAR-16 world. They are nice and work.”

I agree. Have an Armalite AR-180B. Nice firearm, works well, reliable.

You have good taste. This is me with my son's AR-10. I'm using the ACOG to hit half a welding tank at 400 yards.

What signals the tipping point?

Maybe the same as Lexington Green, and the Bridge at Concord. ...when/if they come for our weapons

You can use converted M1A mags for the AR10 in the M1A but you can’t use unconverted M1A mags in a AR-10. If you think about it, just about all mags are proprietary.

I hear ya! Believe me I’m more than ready enough, I’ve spent the last 16 years learning how to build up rifles from the odd parts, etc. and have a number of useful tools (e.g., can change out an M1 Carbine or Garand barrel like greased butter). Also upgraded my pistols, rifles, etc...... What I have is all legal, but useful enough in a pinch.

I think, technically, you’re not supposed to ‘own’ any of those, however.

Okay. I don’t know what your budget is, so I can only suggest what I think would be best. Take or leave. You can PM me if you want something further.

My AR has a front vertical grip with a Crimson Trace laser pointer. Thumb powered, and in a pinch since this is going to be a “pray and spray” weapon, will suffice for everything that I need/want. A decent one is not cheap, you are looking at 350-500 easy, unless you can find something used.

If you are looking for home protection, get a shotgun, pump shotgun. There is no better sound to scare the bejeezus out of a perp than the sound of that slide closing. I have personal first hand knowledge of that.

Anyway, that is what I recommend. PM me if you want anything else.

“...when/if they come for our weapons.”

Always thought that doorway confrontation would be too late, but someone may have to act as a tripwire.

It will likely originate in the form of a “volunteer program” but it may indeed be conducted as it was during Katrina.

Sounds like we should consider moving into Gaffer’s neighborhood.

I went to cheaperthandirt and could not find them. What are they listed under?

“I’m growing older every day.”

I could sing a few bars of that tune. It really sneaks up on you, doesn’t it! Seems like only yesterday I was a kid; now I look in the mirror and there’s a stranger, with pouches under his eyes and graying hair, staring back at me...

I'll check out the Crimson Trace laser pointer.

But I'd like something that might be a scope, laser, and light combination. Something like the Blast 2 Tactical Light & Laser Picatinny 1913 Rail
or like the Universal AR-2A M-4 Laser & Dual Light Mount AR2 .

There's no real rush on getting the accessories though, because I don't think the laws will change for them, except maybe the suppressors.

My budget's a little tight, but I'd rather pay a little more for quality, and spread it out over 90 days than crimp on the cheap. I'm a retired E-7, but my brother's into my wallet pretty deep.

Thanks again for he suggestion. I'll keep thinking, before I spend.

Found it a pawn shop in nearly new shape and got it for $1800 out the door two/three years ago. It is a real HK91 made in Germay with the poly rifled barrel, they have not been imported since the eighties. I’ve seen the HK91 priced up to $3K range at gun shows, not that many sell at that...

Here's your Tuesday morning fun thread, folks.

Personally, I highly recommend the Trijicon. Best of breed, IMHO. (and priced accordingly...)
