I found some eerie excerpts out of "The Rise And Fall of the Third Reich," by William Shirer. I'm typing one up to share with you the freaky similarities I'm already seeing with "The One." Just subsitute Obama for Germany. Seriously. Am I all tin-foil hat?
From the book (pg. 245): "Section 14 of the Press Law ordered editors 'to keep out of the newspapers anything which in any manner is misleading to the public, mixes selfish aims with community aims, tends to weaken the strength of the German Reich, outwardly or inwardly, the common will of the German people, the defense of Germany, its culture and economy...or offends the honor and dignity of Germany'–an edict which, if it had been in effect before 1933, would have led to the suppression of every Nazi editor and publication in the country. It now led to the ousting of those journals and journalists who were not Nazi or who declined to become so."
Those who don't see it are either truly daft or don't want to believe it.

I got this in my inbox in a slightly modified version (the one I had had a few small historical inaccuracies. This one is correct to my knowledge).
Just Who Am I?
I was raised in one country but my father was born in another. I was not his only child. He fathered several children with a number of women.
I became very close to my mother because my father showed little interest in me. Then my mother died at an early age from cancer. Later in life, questions arose over my real name. My birth records were sketchy and no one was able to produce a reliable birth certificate.
I grew up practicing one faith but I practiced non-traditional beliefs and did not follow mainstream Christianity.
I worked and lived among lower-class people as a young adult before I decided it was time to get serious about my life and I embarked on a new career.
I wrote a book about my struggles growing up. It was clear to those who read my memoirs that I had difficulties accepting that my father my father’s emotional abandonment.
I became active in local politics when I was in my 30s and then burst onto the scene as a candidate for national office when I was in my 40s. I had a virtually non-existent resume, very little work history, and no experience in leading a single organization. Yet I was a powerful speaker who managed to draw incredibly large crowds during my public appearances.
At first, my political campaign focused on my country’s foreign policy. I was critical of my country in the last war. But what launched my rise to national prominence were my views on the country’s economy. I had a plan on how we could do better. I knew which group was responsible for getting us into this mess.
Mine was a peoples’ campaign. I was the surprise candidate because I emerged from outside the traditional path of politics and was able to gain widespread popular support. I offered the people the hope that together we could change our country and the world.
I spoke on behalf of the down-trodden including persecuted minorities such as Jews, but my actual views were not widely known until after I became my nations leader. However, anyone could have easily learned what I really believed if they had simply read my writings and examined those people I associated with. But they did not.
Then I became the most powerful man in the world. And the world learned the truth.

I have an inlaw who was alive in Germany before WW2 and escaped Germany. She is fairly moderate politically but she said everything about the Obama movement is reminiscent of the way they operated. It was unsettling to her as well.
We have to fight this, but unfortunately we have to attack them in other ways. We must fight them at the grassroots level, and find 3 themes to present an ALTERNATIVE plan. Simply saying Obama is radical is not going to work this time, because of the way it will be characterized.
IMO, the Dems are going to overplay their hand on spending, bailouts and pushing a liberal agenda. Most people still do not back Gay Marriage, massive spending and handouts, but circumstances are such that it will take 2-4 years to sink in. An object lesson.
The new strategy IMO is for the GOP to rework Perot’s Reform Party and run against the national debt, for the balanced budget and for sensible reform.
As Bobby Jindal said, we have to propose solutions using true conservative principles rather than simply saying what the other side is doing isn’t right, or isn’t working.
Conservatives have to fight this new administration, but do it intelligently, to win the public support when the time comes that the Dems overreach.
Of course. Most of these plans will meet reality right away and be abandoned.
Well, this is a disturbing thread. While I respect your right to your opinion, I disagree that the minor correlations you have mined among Hitler (a long-time, public Jew and Catholic hater and executer) have bearing/resemblance to Obozo.
Also, that there is some sort of Fourth Reich rising because 52% of the national electorate voted for him doesn’t get me (a center-right) looking to buy a swatzica at Sears and run out and tout hate.

I beg to differ. I think Blogger’s comment shows us how analogous they actually are. Obviously not identical, but the general principles appear to be the same.
Hitler won power with a plurality. At the peak, the Nazi’s never had more than 35% of the popular vote, if I remember correctly. Also, if you read Shirer’s book, there is a great description of Nazi tactics that fits the leftist playbook to a “T.”
Heck, Johan Goldberg wrote a book called “Liberal Fascism.”
You missed the part about the Nazi tactic of unleashing an barrage of lies and slanders against opponents, in order to demoralize them.
I too am not convinced there are direct correlations. However, I do believe there is one, and most critical, similarity - Obama is anti-Israel. Of course, he doesn’t look like that right now - but he will reveal himself in a few short years.

Germany was left of the left, socialist. Communism and Nazi socialism were just two versions of the same painting.
We currently have several NAZI socialist type programs operating here in the United States.
Search NAZI here on FR and you will find one titled National Socialism. It describes in detail how we have incorporated some of Hitler’s programs here. and it an historical fact the FDR liked some of the NAZI socialist methods used to nationalize a country.
A major one mentioned in the paper just occured here in America.

You could also add in the Civilian Defense Force more powerful than the armed forces into this equation.
Also add in the media. If Joseph Goebbels were still alive he would give a Wayne’s World salute to the media bowing down and saying “I’m not worthy.”
It’s always possible to find real or imagined similarities, but Obama is not Hitler, so forget that idea!
The people were mesmerized by the thought of “the first Black president” and voted stupidly, ignoring Obama’s extreme leftness.
