I got a pop up message from google the other day on this when I went over there. Lucianne has a note on their home page that the problem has been taken care of.

I was using FireFox, but didn’t get any warning from it.

You get so much bad crap going to Lucianne. I complained once about all the spybots and crap and they responded "use better virus protection...we need the money from the ads."

Its a lame site anyway. Most articles get 10 responses and they treat everyone like children. Screw em.

“The Ldott staff is well known for irrational, fickle, and random purges/bannings/blocking/censoring so this is very funny.”

You can say THAT again.

“That collection of randomly sensitive, double standard wheeling, capricious banners, and faux-con, rainbow warriors...”

Well put.

Although I like Lucianne.com, Ive had trouble from visiting it.

I too like Lucianne.com. Many times I find more interesting and intelligent discourse there as compared to Freerepublic.

I go right to the virus and I’m using Firefox 3, too. If I use your link, I avoid the warning. How can I avoid it from my link to lucianne. This drives me nuts because with ever return to L’anne, the warning is reinvoked!

I can access Lucianne’s site, my AVG does have a warning pop up. I just email Lucianne the info in case it is something she needs to attend to.

I just deleted my bookmark, opened a new tab, entered LDot’s url and went in direct with no problem, no warning. Then bookmarked the site again and the warning does not come up. I think the “misqouted malware” was associated to the bookmark not the site. Not sure as I am not as knowledgeable as I used to be! I try to keep up but things change so fast and I am getting so old!

Good — I’m happy Lucianne fought back!

For newer Freepers — did you know that the name “Freeper” was coined by Lucianne? We are indebted!

Thanks for that reminder!
For those so eager to slam Lucianne, I think Aesop had a little story about that. With a fox and a crow and a big bunch of grapes?
I’d hate to see Free Republic restricted or
fold. I’d certainly hate to see Lucianne fold.
The bitter gloaters here might want (or not) to consider that if Google (or some other malware) can mess with Lucianne, they can also mess with Free Republic whenever they get around to it.
For anyone with any serious positions on conservative values, you might want to consider putting ‘the strength in numbers attitude’ ahead of your own pettiness right about now.

Lucianne began posting right here on Free Republic. Her site has been under attack for awhile and as soon as they are aware of it, they fix it. One thing I like about her site, she doesn’t allow people to trash one another. If the shoe fits, you can’t acquit... (OK, that’s lame but still applies.)

One other point while I’m at it. She has a conservative site and posts links to the news and allows comments, just like FR. FR is better because there is more commentary and more research but surely there is room for both. As stjohnswood points out, if they can mess with Lucianne, they can mess with FR.

I don’t post much on FreeRepublic any more—not enough hours in the day. I post mainly at Lucianne.com. But I appreciate the job that Jim Robinson has done, and I wish him and the Freepers well.

No kidding.

I’ve had three screen names there over the last decade and always watched my P’s and Q’s. ESPECIALLY with the last one.

No multiple postings (even though several of the Ldott chosen do it all the time).

No calling posters by name.

No attacking posters (I was saccharine sweet with the last name especially) even though posters like TheMotherCo spewed bile at every post.

But I was relentless in the war against the homo agenda and it got me banned every time, no matter how “nice” and rational I was.

The last time was right after the election in the latest massive Stalinist purge at Ldott. Things were getting heated during the campaign and election, especially between the decent folk and the rainbow coalition there, and I was stunned they did not launch the purge earlier.

Then I figured out why.

The election.

They held their breath and bided their time, lest they cause any rifts in the base before November 5th.

Not two weeks afterward the purges began. They claimed it was a slew of people who had been attacking others and so had lost their privileges but it was a lie.

Because some of those purged were posters I knew (including myself) who never attacked anyone - and some of the WORST, most habitual rules violation offenders were still posting when the dust settled.

Coincidentally, most of those violators who were NOT purged were either Neo-cons, Homo-cons, or mindless Bush/GOP bots.

Ldot wasn't blocked because of a hyperlink to malware, it was blocked due to automatic installation of malware, something which needed scripting. Most likely source was a malicious advertiser using Ldot's ad banner system to embed malicious scripts into Ldot pages.

Free Republic prohibits third-party scripts of any sort, therefore is not susceptible to this type of shenanigan.

Ahem... I too know of the purge.
Welcome Comrade
The rules there seemed random, you were scolded if they thought you posted “incorrectly” telling you to use search etc. Their search function is lousy. The attacks against others were getting to be common and by the same people. They are still posting. If I posted an article it was to get others to read it and comment on it as I thought the site was about. To be banned because it was already posted 12 hours ago (search never found it) or you had the authors name in capital letters or get this - you posted only 1 yes 1 sentence!

I too was purged because I suspect I didn’t think George Bush walked on water or that I should be a 100% McCain supporter.
Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber yes but not Bush & McCain
