Finding Our Calling
I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called. —Ephesians 4:1
A continuing struggle as we seek to follow Christ is trying to find our calling in life. While we often think in terms of occupation and location, perhaps a more important issue is one of character—the being that undergirds doing. “Lord, who do You want me to be?”

In Ephesians 4, Paul wrote, “I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called” (v.1). He followed this with three “be’s,” as one translation renders it: be humble, be gentle, be patient, “bearing with one another in love” (v.2 NIV). Paul wrote this from prison, a difficult place where he continued to live out his calling from God.

Oswald Chambers said: “Consecration is not the giving over of the calling in life to God, but the separation from all other callings and the giving over of ourselves to God, letting His providence place us where He will—in business, or law, or science; in workshop, in politics, or in drudgery. We are to be there working according to the laws and principles of the Kingdom of God.”

When we are the right people before God, we can do whatever task He sends, wherever He puts us. In so doing, we discover and affirm His calling for us.

You are called with a holy calling
The light of the world to be;
To lift up the lamp of the gospel
That others the light may see. —Anon.

It’s not what you do but who you are that’s most important.

Good morning!
Setup at the coffee shop and sipping my coffee next to the fireplace. Its all of 1 degree outside and sunny.

As I’m up breakfast is on me today.

Flame seared sirloin steak (done just right)
Thin sliced ham over English muffin with an egg and Hollandaise sauce
Hashbrowns just golden brown
Toast (whole wheat, sourdough or 9-grain)
Eggs your way
Hot cereal (of your choice)
ice cold milk
fresh jucis
coffee the way you like it
Tea for the rest of us
and hot apple strudel with cremery buttery topping

(You can have more, I love to cook!)

What time, please? LOL~~~

I was having a bit of fun this morning and took a picture of my breakfast before taking it to the table. Was gonna post it for a laugh and a good morning....well, when my son worked on my computer recently, he said he would have to make some adjustments on my the camera downloading. I sorta forgot and tried to load my recent pics into the computer and it wouldn’t work. Guess he forgot and so did I...until I needed it! Dog-gone it!

Mornin’, Johnn! Did you perchance have big fluffy biscuits with sausage gravy on that menu? If not, I’ll just have the regular: Chocolate Malt-O-Meal. Thank you for serving us all such a nice breakfast.

Glad you got your seat by the fireside. Stay warm, and have a good week.

Thank you.....I love Ragtime music. One thing for sure you can’t sit still when you listen to it. I tried out a couple of them and will listen to the rest.

Do ya’ll think if I put that music on, it will make me do my work faster? LOL~~~

Work, I must get to it. Amy, hope you’re doing good today and Lori, I hope your neck pain is getting much better today!

Thank you for this lovely Daily Bread lesson today, Mr. Mayor.
I will start my day with that today.

We got a touch of snow last night, not much! The sun is shining brightly now but it is terribly cold.

Hope you have a wonderful day today.

What a beautiful way to describe “Life”. And isn’t it the truth....the high’s and low’s. Music week sounds wonderful, Amy.

LOL~~~~it just looked so good....Scrambled eggs, sliced tomatoes and biscuit toast. Very simple! The bread actually was left over small rolls but I thought ‘roll toast’ sounded funny! Everyone knows what biscuit toast is...
I swear, the picture was good on the camera....makes me so mad to always have to wait for somebody else to help me with those darn technical things. And he is off sick today! I talked to him early before I realized the camera trouble. I hated to call him back since he’s not feeling well...sounds like a terrible cold to me.

(some of you may have missed this from the end of last month's thread)

The Rest

It would be nice, to hear that voice,
That calm embrace, just mellowed so,
Repeat once more some details, now obscure,
And meaningless, until he lets us know,

Until he tells us in that special way,
With pregnant pauses now and then,
For profit, and for drama, and,
With a smile in his voice resumes again,

To tell us what it is he's come to know,
Whether in some vain pursuit for glory,
Or just the way Life is, and goes,
To tell us a story, and the rest of the story.
