Need gun advice on concealable 9mm.

Okay, I am looking for an easily concealable 9mm handgun for my wife. Main qualities (not necessarily in order), 1) Reliability, 2)min. size/weight 3) Preferably under $400, used is okay if with a lifetime warranty. 4) approx. 10 round mag. 5)Double action only trigger so that there are no safeties to fumble with

Disqualifiers: cheap junk, Taurus semi auto. I had almost talked myself into believing that Taurus had improved their semi-autos, and today I looked at a brand new Taurus PT-111 that was inoperable.

Thanks. BoT

He said *concealable*. That thing’s huge.

Kel Tec PF9 is very thin and the only non junk in your price range.

I have a walther pps which I love-the only downside is after shooting about fifty rounds through it, my index finger gets tired, and the pps has a long trigger pull.

It will tolerate a limp wrist, and not jam like a taurus
P-111. I doubt you can find one for 400 bucks, though.
Also, extra mags aren’t easy to find, and crimson trace has yet to make a laser for it.

The sights that it comes with are easy enough-My daughter had never shot a handgun before, and hit six consecutive bull’s eyes with it the first time she ever shot it at the range. That’s a space about 2.5 by 3.5 inches, so I was impressed.

Not really. It’s a very slim and skinny single stack mag pistol. The barrel/slide forward of the trigger is much much slimmer than a Glock or an XD, for example. That muzzle just disappears inside the waist band.

Kel Tec P-11 fits all of your parameters. You need to put a few 100 rounds through it to break it in though, to make it 100% reliable.

And Kel-Tec is pretty good about smithing it when you find that it won't work on your ammo.

Keltec is pretty easy to do some of your own smithing. Such as polishing the feed ramp etc.

Glock 19. Might be a little more than $400, but it's worth it.

And get some training from these people.

The first comment I would like to make is that you really need to take a look at any rule that puts a price limit on a weapon that will be used to save your wife's life. I take it that her life is worth $400 but not worth $600.

Her life is imminently valuable to me so using your logic, I should spend everything I have and hire a full time, highly trained bodyguard. I cannot do that and as with most of us, I have a budget. You CAN buy a very reliable sub-compact for $400 or so.

My wife isn’t a small woman. 5’10” and a few too many pounds (and I love every one of them). She has shot my Ruger .40 S&W but it is a bit much recoil for her. She has talked to some female friends who have their CC and they have convinced her the limitations of the small revolver are not where she wants to go.

I had forgotten about the Makarov. What about the CZ-82? I haven’t read about them.

It depends on the powder. All the powder manufactures have free reloading manuals so download them. Just google “reloading data”.

I looked at that particular pistol today and liked it for it’s size. I am leaning towards that, but I want to take my wife to fire a few pistols to see if she likes it too.

I liked them so much, I purchased two H&K Compaq 9mm:

One for the wife and one for me. You can read more about the H&K 9mm here. I don't remember what I paid for 'em.
